You need a copy of "Fly Fishing for Redeye Bass" on that mantle.  I do plan on taking it up. No kidding. There's supposed to actually be some good fly fishing on Little River. Regarding those books one of my best friends wrote those. I have a fairly large library, I just haven't built the shelves up in the lofts for them yet. Somewhere in there is the book "Fly Fishing for Dummies."

An update on the propane situation at the cabin...
As you know I decided, much to the laughter of some folks, to attempt to run our full size gas range on 20# propane tanks, using a RV style switchable manifold. Well this arrangement has worked out very well. We have been up at the cabin cooking almost 3 days a week on average including Mrs. Irish making extra soups, stews and meals to package and can for her Mom to eat during the week and for us to have extra for lunches. So a lot of cooking going on at the cabin. We installed the stove and the gas in late March and just a couple of weeks ago finally used our 1st bottle of propane and had to switch over to a new one. That was a lot of cooking for $14.92 a refill at the Walmart in Ft. Payne.
I took that empty bottle and 2 other spares I had at the house and had those refilled, so now I always have full extra bottles. There’s a ton of “experts” on here who don’t mind providing their critical opinions... funny how real life results differ from our resident experts opinions. Glad the propane decision worked out well for y’all!  And keep posting your updates - I’ve really enjoyed reading them.

I agree, but I wasn't actually referring to anyone in particular on here, mainly my brother and some friends who all thought I was crazy for trying to run a high end style gas stove off of a 20# propane tank. But I did my research and apparently in places like Costa Rica, the BVI, Jamaica, etc... Where rich folks have vacation homes and Viking stoves and there is no natural gas infrastructure and no propane trucks, the 20# bottles is all they have, so it's quite common everywhere but the US.

Are you still actually building this cabin or just channeling Joanna Gaines now and furnishing the inside?

Taking a break for breakfast, but already after it this morning at Camp Little Ridge. I can't imagine how hard the Hebrew Slaves must have worked building the pyramids. Just a little stone retaining wall in this heat is bad enough. This is all I'm doing today until the tractor gets here. My buddy and I took his Chevy Diesel with his tandem axle trailer over to Huntsville to pick up my new tractor and we brought her home... He's a good friend. The more experience I get on the Vision Kamado the better it gets. Nothing but a rub, some lump charcoal, and cook it low and slow. That's it... Mrs. Irish made an apple cider and sugar slaw and her outstanding potato salad and knocked it out of the ball park. For the life of me I can't figure out why you don't weigh 400 lbs. I love following this thread. Be careful on the tractor. Keep loads in the bucket within lifting capacity and always keep loads low when in transport. Never turn sharp with a load lifted high no matter how slow you are moving along. You will get the hang of it.

Man, I like that little Lodge cast iron grill! Yes... It is a sweet little grill. We love it. For steaks, burgers, grilled chicken, etc... It can't be beat. There's stuff that it's better at than the Kamado and then there's stuff that the Kamado is better at. They both accompany each other very well. I think if you have both of those, you don't really need any other grills or smoking devices. Seriously...

You will get the hang of it. Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. I have had several of my buddy's up here giving me the same kind of advice. My buddy that helped me get her home gave me several tractor lectures. He's a good dude that cares about his friends. OH... And the reason I don't weigh 400 pounds is that I work my ass off up here in case you haven't noticed...
