I was an out of state student at Auburn and never left.
I pay taxes in Alabama, have a lifetime Alabama hunting license, own a little place to call home in Auburn and have enjoyed my time living in Alabama.
My long term goal is to own some acreage in Alabama, where and how many acres I have no clue, but I've got a goal.

Total enrollment is 29,776, of which only 16,917 is from Bama. 56.8% in state and a hair over 43% from out of state. My bad. I was 6.8% off. Carry on.
Point being it's sad that any proud state institution has so many out of staters. Whether it be Alabama, Auburn or anyone else. I don't like it.
AU is about to follow that model. They have been holding enrollment steady and making harder and harder to get in. AU is now planning to increase enrollment to about 35000. Ill bet they will try to pull from the out staters paying double tuition. It will always be about the money

BAMA recruits extremely heavy in the north and the west. It also appears that these students from far away are offered scholarships at a higher rate than the local state kids. And why do you think they are doing that hmmm? Its almost as if there is some underlying initiative to get a bunch of leftists to flock to red states such as texas and alabama. Things that make you go hmmmmm. This isn’t a conspiracy. It is about money. Out of state tuition.

let me start by saying I really enjoyed living in LA. but if the major universities of the state want to increase enrollment while retaining or increasing academic standards it would be tough with only in-staters. as of 2017 only 1 state had lower mean act scores and I think AL was last in math scores. overall the public schools rank in the bottom 5 by most measures.
I know some of you went to good public schools in the state, but that isn't the norm. Bringing in stronger students from outside the state only helps the in-state kids attending.

Why are all these liberals teachers anyway? Is it because the ideology doesn't work in the real world? So they become a teacher/professor where they can deal in hypothetical scenarios on a presentation as they teach their students that their ideology should work...? In theory?
I don't understand how all these teachers are liberal... and/or have never had an actual job in the subject matter they are teaching.
Education and the concept that everyone needs a college degree, student loans, etc. = more college professors teaching their garbage.
This is all a tangled web and at the root of it all is the Government with their hand in the free market where it should not be. In this case Student Loans.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Why are all these liberals teachers anyway? . Cause they cant cut it in the real world. I had a professor write on my report I would never succeed in the business world. I spoke at my Alma mater some 20 years later and stopped by his office and said "hi"
