I would venture to say Austin is one of the most liberal places in the country. I've been to Austin and Portland in the last 6 months and you can barely tell the two apart.


Truth! Austin has been far more liberal and a haven for liberals for several years, probably decades actually, than the rest of the state. That said, I think most metropolitan areas are more liberal/progressive than the rural areas of historically conservative states
