To me a club is no different or better than public land. It's basically first come first served for spots and you never know where you will end up hunting until you make it to the land. When I can stay long enough for a 4+ hour drive to be worth it I hunt family land. When I want to hunt close to home, I have always hunted public land and tend to enjoy it. It's a challenge and I never have to worry about anyone's opinion of how I hunted or what I decided to shoot or not shoot. Most clubs these days have a rule book bigger than the WMA regs. And it is the unwritten rules you have to worry about more in a club.
