Most lawn mowers have more than 23hp.

That 1023 is just a big lawnmower. You will not be able to any real work with it. I thought all you Mt Brook types had air conditioned lawn mowers. 😆
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

That 1023 is just a big lawnmower. You will not be able to any real work with it. Not everyone needs a 40 HP tractor. Would I like to have one? Sure! But it would be overkill for what I do, With our BX2360, I have - cleared brush and small trees 7+ feet high, dug a small basement for a tool shed, used my 12" auger to plant trees, set all the posts for my fence and muscadine arbor, kept the orchard mowed, moved rocks up to about 800 lbs (can't lift them, but you can roll them off the trailer and drive off with them), tilled up small food plots and large flower beds, did finish dirt work around the cabin, carried 3-400 lbs through the woods with no effort on my part, and tons more. Little tractors are way more handy than lots of folks want to admit.

That 1023 is just a big lawnmower. You will not be able to any real work with it. I think you are right the more I start getting into stuff. I was watching a comparison and the Mahindra in this price range the eMax22 (I seem to remember) has a lift capacity of 1000 pounds on the bucket, much more than the comparable Kubota or Kiote in the video. Horsepower to the PTO is something I need to pay more attention to. As far as all the jokes about these being a glorified lawn mower, y'all are all right, but in truth, even though I have 10 acres up there, I don't have but about 1-2 acres of flat or semi-flat ground to maintain. And the place I just made (See Irishguy's Cabin Build thread.) to store this tractor only has about a 7' head clearance under the back deck. So if I go with one of the bigger 30-40 horsepower tractors then everything else becomes exponential: I need a bigger truck. I need a bigger tandem axle trailer. I need to build a barn to store the tractor. etc...

if your going to lift anything with those toy tractors make sure the tires are loaded and you have a good counterbalance behind (cast iron box filled with concrete). You don't want to be getting close to the max lift capacity on these small tractors because you'll flip in a hurry. Small tractors kill just as easy as big ones. If you property is hilly or sloped at all then this becomes even more important.

I park my 38hp kubota inside a shop that was a 7’ tall roll up door. I just have to fold the rops down. It takes leas than a minute to do. No big deal really, I just can’t have a canopy which is a bummer.

It's a vicious cycle. And you'll need bigger implements too. And a way to store more than a few gallons of diesel, and transport it.

Kubota L series are great tractors. Id take a L series over a JD 3 series but stay with Green or Orange. Both are great tractors with good parts/dealer support and have the best resale value.

My granddaughter has toy tractors bigger than that! What's your point? It does almost everything we need to do, and with the money we didn't spend on a bigger tractor, we paid someone else to clear 2 more acres and bought some other cool chit, with cash left over. I ain't row crop farming over here, just maintaining some property.

Nothing wrong with it.....
But with the money I saved buying a older tractor I got a much much bigger machine and I can do that in 20 minutes.
And when I am ready to sell it I can sell it for about as much as I have in it.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

My place is hilly and tight enough that I would be afraid of a big tractor on most of it, and I couldn't get between the trees on other parts.
Also, my wife and Mom aren't afraid of this one, and are willing to use it when I'm not around.
We've had it 7 years now, and never spent a penny on repairs.

I'm in the same boat. I ain't 27wynbymag with a bunch of soy beans to farm. If everyone needed a 40hp tractor, then that's all that they would sell. Just like trucks... Everyone doesn't need a diesel dually. But there's some guys that do need them and there's some guys that think they need them.

And when I am ready to sell it I can sell it for about as much as I have in it. I wish I could find a larger older tractor used with a FEL and a backhoe for cheaper than the $18,000 that Foothills is wanting for an EMax22 with the same stuff, a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty, a 7 year power train and 0% financing for 60 months. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, tractors hold their resale value and with the incentives and warranty they are offering on new ones, it's hard to justify buying an old used tractor for just a couple thousand dollars less. Regarding speed... When I'm up at the cabin doing stuff I'm not necessarily trying to get it all done as fast as possible. For a guy like me that works an office/field job, I like doing outdoor stuff even if it's bush hoggin', planting a garden, landscape work, planting trees, building a cabin, splitting firewood, etc... Stuff like that is why I bought land and built a place out in the woods hanging off the side of a mountain... To be closer to the land.

It's fine for a lawn mower.
