Texting and driving is as bad as drunk driving. You’d probably be surprised at many folks are driving down the road under the influence of prescription pills, many don’t even know they are breaking the law because they are prescribed. I’ve represented several folks for DUI controlled substance and usually the first thing they say is “I was taking my medicine that the doctor prescribed me”.


That is no longer illegal thanks to the way the law was interpreted when Spencer Collier was stoned out of his Gourd. crossed the center line in Pike Road, in a Selma Police Vehicle and hit a man head on. The troopers on scene said he couldn't stand up. Blood drawn at the hospital showed narcotic painkillers and sedatives in his system. Prosecution was declined because they were prescribed to him and within the "therapeutic limits".

Now I know the law didn't change but if my client was charged I'd be hopping up and down about this.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
