Average around 285 yards with driver but have trouble controlling it. Have hit one 305. So I use my 3 wood and hit about 240 to 250 fairly consistently.

After reading this thread, that might be a low estimate.

If I hit a 260 yard drive in the fairway I’m tickled pink.

X2. Who knew half of aldeer could hit it with the tour players. Impressive

You're surprised? Heck way over half of us have our Interwebs MD degree why would you be surprised that the PGA is kids play?

Y'all that average 300 yards are in the top 50 for the world. These guys get paid to play golf. Sounds like y'all are in the wrong profession. rofl

800 yard head shot is not a problem on aldeer. Now it's got me wondering if they do it with a golf ball.....

I play golf 2 times a week on average during the summer and I’m not near as strong as my playing partners. When I get a hold of a good drive, it goes about 240-250. I probably hit most of my drives 225-235 but I play a fade, which isn’t the long drive shot. I’m an 8 handicap and I’ve learned that not being long is not a bad thing. Most strokes gained are in the short game, which many people don’t practice because they are worried about hitting the crap out of it.

I agree 100% about the exaggeration of what people say they hit vs. what they actually do.

Why do you say that’s? Unless we’ve met on the course you have no clue as to how I can play or my background. I hit a 3 wood 275 and a 4 iron 220. I also play with guys who are much longer and much shorter than me and both outplay me on a regular basis.

Because it’s like me saying I throw a slider 93mph, and a fastball 101. If I did, I would be getting paid for it.

It’s an exaggeration, which is fine, but that’s the point of the thread

So this thread is starting to sound like golfers are bigger liars than fishermen. Unbelievable!! As a fisherman I'd never lie about my 22 lb Bass or any of my 4 lb Crappie. Geez. grin

Undoubtedly you and several other people on this thread think it’s very difficult to hit the ball 300 yards. Fact is it’s pretty easy for anyone with today’s technology and a 110+MPH swing speed. I play with a group of guys and several in that group could play tour golf IF they had the money and desire. There’s way more people in the USGA that can play tour level golf than there is actually on tour. In a money game on my home course it’s nothing for 2-3 guys to each have 6-8 birdies per round. Most played some form of collegiate golf and figured out chasing girls was more fun/important than chasing a little white ball around a golf course (myself included).

You can’t really even compare tournament courses with 90% of country clubs around the US. Tournament courses are designed in such a way that hitting ACCURATE tee shots far outweighs extra length. Country Club courses are rather easy by comparison with much wider fairways and less danger in hitting bombs. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. The RTJ courses are set up similar to a tournament level course. Most par 4s have the best angle into the green at roughly 150 yards. That means hitting a 310 yard drive on some and 250 or less on others. The course I play regularly is wide open where “luck favors the bold” and 300+ off the tee helps create scoring opportunities.

I have nothing to gain by lying.....to me, a "good day on the course" is if I can break 100.

With a decent driver and decent ball, most young(ish) guys are more than capable of generating the club head speed needed to drive 300+. The problem is many get sloppy if they swing as hard as they can and they make poor contact, killing their distance of sending the ball screaming into the next fairway (or 2). If you can get consistent contact with a full, 100% swing, 300yds is well within reach for even occasional golfers (I play 5-7 times/year at most).

Me too Gomer (nothing to gain). My good day on the course is anything below 75. I’ve got the handicap to back it up to. It just amazes me that some people talk without knowing what they are talking about. Go watch a round of golf a local good course with some “A” players and the naysayers would be shocked lol. I’m a 6 handicap and nowhere near an “A” player at my course.

For the record, I don’t think anyone is lying. I just think sometimes we give ourselves more credit than we deserve. beers
