I'll drive....the cart.
Heck, just have an Aldeer night at the driving range somewhere. they rent them out for events I think.

I just wanna watch. I can bring the beer. I'm in. I'll bring the bourbon. 😀 There is no “bringing of any outside refreshments” on the course. I know it gets done, we just haven’t caught them yet. Amazing how people love to take money out of other peoples pockets by sneaking stuff on. Just like shoplifting in my eyes.

Very few people can hit it consistently 250 ish let alone 300! I have hit some and got a really friendly roll but no where near 300 on avg.

I’ve always figured that courses would make way more money if they charged $1.50 or so for an 85 cent can of bud light as opposed to $3.25. Price gouging isn’t really any better than “shop lifting”

I'll make this bet for the long ball hitters-- I'll host you at Timberline. Play from the back tees, For every drive you hit over 285- by rangefinder- And keep it in play, not necessarily in the fairway, but you have to be able to advance your next shot, I'll pay you $100, if not you pay me. There's 13 holes that you can use driver on. That's the opportunity to take $1300 from me.
I'll take the bet under one condition, because there aren't 13 driver holes on that course. 1,4,6,11,12,14,15,18 are the money holes. If you agree, how does Friday sound?

Price gouging isn’t really any better than “shop lifting” Well, you would be wrong. Sure you can goto a gas station and buy a 6 pack much cheaper. But that Gas station doesn't have the liability insurance, the 4-5 servers that it takes to serve, the liability insurance, the people sneaking it on the course at any price, the liability insurance-- it's pretty high. Also, we are in the golf business, not the beer selling business. We don't want everyone buying a 12 pack and going out and power drinking for 4 hours. That turns a 4 hour round into a 6 hour round. Then it put the liability (there's that word again) on the course for over serving. This being a golf thread, ask Tiger about over serving patrons. There is way more involved into pricing items than just marking it up XXX amount.

Who is going to video the event for us working folk? About time some of the talkers backed it up. $800 on the line if hojo agrees That was not the bet. So let's look at this counter. There are defiantly 13 holes you can hit driver from the back tees. The bet was not shooting par, which I would agrees that not every hole, if you're playing for score, calls for a driver. Hole 3, 561 yard Par 5. No driver????? Out of bounds on the left Creek on the right. Hole 5 288 yard Par 4. To make the bet, that should be easy. The bet was 285 on every drive. Hole 8 521 Yard Par 5 No Driver??? Big hill on the left Creek on the right Come on No Driver on another par 5?? Hole 9 333 Yard Par 4, This hole is drivable IF you have the stones to cut the trees, 280 does it, Why no driver??? Hole 17 401 Yard Par 4 You can hit it 280 over the sand trap and creek, or 300 straight. Can't pull it left and kill it though, theres the lake. Each one of the holes has penalty's- The bet was every drive 285 and be able to advance the next shot towards the green. Hit it OB, can't advance, hit it in the water, Can't advance. Golf is not a grip it and rip it game. It's mental, That's why I really never got good, I did carry a 0 handicap but I just hit it straight and on the green. Never could putt or I could have been good at the game. I could miss a 3' birdie put just as easy as missing a 30' one. What I want to see is can you stand on the tee already down $300 and know to have to nutt it AND find it again. I didn't say hit the fairway, I just said find it and hit it again. Heck, on 1 anyone can swing as hard as you can in spray it 60 yards either way from the middle of the fairway. Can you do that on 8?? So no I won't take that bet. Do you play Black Jack and ask the dealer to give you all 4 aces to play whenever you want?????? Not doing the here either.

So basically keep it in between the stakes on any hole and the ball has to go 285?
Ok. lets do it. Does Friday afternoon work for you?

Ok. lets do it. Does Friday afternoon work for you? There has been a lot of people claiming a lot of grand things in this thread but I think bamarico has accepted the challenge and agreed to the terms. I'm inclined to think he might break even or better on the bet just based on his eagerness to get to it. I definitely don't think most people claiming to consistently hit it 300+ can back it up but I know a couple who can. Both were better than average golfers who occasionally threw up a low number but they hit it farther than everyone else I played with by a wide margin. Let get ready to rumble!

10 years ago I'd took that bet, considering as I've already mentioned I haven't hit a ball in 8 year or better. I have thought about hitting a few and getting back at it. That's the reason I watched some of the big tournaments this year. It's also amazed me to see the guys are knocking the crap out of it. Unless the commentators were wildly wrong on yardage Brooks K was driving the ball well over 300 easily at Pebble Beach. His driving iron failed him a few times yet he hammered it too. Hit a 200 yard 7 iron and then a 200 yd 8, which I'm sure lie etc.... played a role however he was't alone in long distance short irons. My 7 iron was 165, 8 iron 155, day in day out.
Go look at Cypress Lakes in Muscle Shoals. I've been on every Par 4 under 330 yards. I probably hit No 1 green as much as I hit the longer par 3s. I even stobbed it one time and lipped out, the guys on No. 2 tee let us play thru. That same Round I was on No. 9 with a high hard drawing 4 wood. I drove over the old no.17 (when Neil still owned the course) which was a little better than 330, hard draw, barely off the back. That was the only time I ever got that close. Had a wind behind me too. I haven't played Cypress since they moved some of the back side holes across the road
Stuart used to work the proshop and would come out and watch me hit driver off no 1 tee at Cypress. Greg worked the proshop at McFarland and then Blackberry, He and his brother and I used to play many rounds, alabamaswamper on here knows Greg, maybe he'll vouch.
I didn't start hitting a 300 yard driver until I bought the Peerless Pete, until then I was a 280 yd hitter. About what I hit at UNA and I wasn't the longest driver but up there with them every time. Check out the Peerless Pete, it's an oversized Persimmon Wood with a titanium core. Blond head with a green graphite shaft, Grant bought a full set of the woods, I wished I had of. I do have a metal driver now, it only gave a few more yards but my Pete is getting beat up pretty bad.
To prove the driver is often more problematic than not, Coach would make us play 1 round at McFarland irons only. As a team our scores dropped significantly, mine didn't really. The driver is and was my best club, the putter was always my worst!.
Scotty, Steve, Steve, Scott and the rest of us played better in bad weather for some reason.
Driving ranges, unless things have changes those golf balls have lost so much compression they lose about 25-50 yards off the driver and less as you go down thru the clubs. Some of the better country clubs use a much higher end range ball.

This thread keeps getting interesting
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??
