Yes, I can't imagine gliding with no engine. He did have a crash but wasn't injured. Perch, both of my uncles lived to come home. But one of them struggled with alcohol for most of his lifetime. My dad was the youngest of 13 children and he knew only a little of their time there. Like others, they never talked about it. My dad said my paratrooper uncle said waiting on Patton was the coldest he's ever been before or since. I do have some letters and 2-3 photos of them in their uniforms. I treasure them. There is a group who will research Glider Pilots and they sent me some info I didn't have.
