Reading that thread got me to looking at the 60V MAX Flexvolt system from DeWalt. They have gone slightly insane with the tools they are making cordless now!

I have a few flex volt Dewalts. A 60v leaf blower (AWESOME), impact, hammer drill and impact drill. Looking at the 60v chain saw and circular saw next.

Yeah, I love my Honda 4 stroke string trimmer, but I'm considering selling it and getting a 60V DeWalt trimmer/ I also like the idea of being able to use the 60V batteries in both the 60V as well as the 20V MAX tools I have

Wonder how long until battery takes over that market I bought a new weedeater and blower (both gas) two years ago. Echo dealer I bought from said he thought within 5 years...so from his estimation, about 3 more years. Sure seems like for Joe consumer with a typical cookie cutter yard that battery is the no brainer choice right now.

I have the trimmer, pole saw and blower 40v and love them. Had them a few years and I only have the 2.0 ah battery and they work great. Would love to have the 80v stuff though, I bet that stuff is awesome!

So how much is a battery if/when one goes bad? As I recall about $80. I bought one to have a spare. Worked well for trimming shooting lanes and small trees a few times a year. No substitute for a big nice 2-stroke polesaw though.

I've got just about every piece they make for the Kobalt 40v - blower, trimmer, chainsaw, pole saw, pruners. I just made sure that when I bought each piece that it was some kind of package deal with a battery/charger. I have way more batteries and chargers than I'll ever need. I took the handheld blower and a battery/charger up to the camp and bought a Stihl battery blower package for my home. The Stihl may be a little more powerful, but not really worth the extra money to me. I still have a Stihl backpack gas blower, a couple of gas chainsaws and a gas weed eater but when I'm just doing my standard yard cuttin', I use the Kobalt stuff.

Jughead I have the GW blower comes out at 168mph that sucker is impressive It is, I have the blower and the hedge trimmer also. The blower weighs around 7lbs or 8lbs. with the battery. I did end up buying a 4.0AH battery from Greenworks directly (reconditioned) for my weed eater/edger. I can weed eat and edge my entire yard (pool, circle drive, flower beds everywhere) and have half a battery or more remaining. I am debating on buying their self propelled mower.

Better watch out buying the Kobalt brand tools...I read on another forum that Lowes has gone all in on the Craftsman brand now and will be phasing their Kobalt stuff out

Doesn't make sense to have to competing "store brands" brands under the same roof.

If you haven't been in a Lowe's recently, it looks like cans of red and black paint exploded over the tool section. Everything in the tool section in the Mobile store I went in a week or so back, was Craftsman red and black
