no debate, period - draw a 30 mile radius around auburn/opelika area. most turkey and easiest to kill. Only the part of the 30 mile radius in the Tuskegee National Forest, there ain't none anywhere else around the Auburn Opelika area! Ya'll shouldn't steer him away from your honeyholes like that!

Things must have changed around Auburn since I was in school there in the 70s. I never even heard one gobble, though one of my classmates claimed that he saw one cross a road in the national forest.
If'n I were gonna draw that 30 mile circle, I'd center it about halfway between Selma and Camden. But you ain't gonna find anywhere you can hunt there unless you are willing to spend a lot of money.

For me, South Montgomery Co. has always been rich w/ turks. I've also seen several in Pickens Co.

I've hunted mainly in Marengo Co., not huge numbers, but its a solid producer every year. I'm gonna give Winston Co., and yes, Walker Co. a try this year. Limited scouting on the Winston Co dirt looks good,so far, and there has been a few seen on the Walker Co tract.
Success is uncommon, therefore is not enjoyed by the common man.

Agree with the Jackson County birds, i have hit a hoot owl call on some mornings and heard 20 plus birds gobbling on multiple occasions. This is an old property i do not get to hunt anymore but another property i hunt i can usually hear 6-10 on a given morning but dog gone they are the Einstein's of turkey. That and one flap of the wings coming off roost and i am 700 yards too far up the mountain cussing and swearing off mountain birds only to return the next morning.

I think the easiest turkeys to kill are in areas where the population is just expanding. I hunted in Walker County just as the population was taking off and those birds were some of the easiest to kill I've seen (not so today). I also hunted around the Paint Rock area when I lived in Huntsville in a place where the population was growing... same thing. As far as consistent areas, the Tombigbee/Sipsey river area spanning from Pickens to Marengo counties is probably hard to beat on sheer numbers.

I have never hunted a place with lots of birds in Alabama.
Now some places in Nebraska has lots of birds. I will have to agree with that to a point. I have hunted one place in AL that had a crap ton of birds and that was last year. They were all off of the property I could hunt, but there were 20+ gobblers in that group gobbling if there was 1. TN used to be that way every day of the season where I was at. Nebraska has a ton of birds. Alabama birds are extinct compared to NE's population. Never seen so many stupid birds in all my life. Totally agree. Never been to a place where you legitimately had a chance of getting your 3 bird limit in one day or heck even with one shot!

I hunt in Macon County and we have about 600 acres of private land that we hunt. Its always the most fun hunting and we always have birds gobbling most of the time, but it sure aint easy at all to kill them, but I do agree they are the most rewarding. I think the numbers are good around there but I dont know about great. Anybody else on here, hunt macon or bullock county for turkeys?

My wifes cousin went out there with a group last year and from the video I watched it was like hunting tame turkeys,in the video there were 6-8 birds I'm guessing that were gobbling and this guy would just start saying out loud stupid stuff like"I'm a hen" and the birds would gobble at him then he would say,"Come here turkey","Your a dumbass", or just say gobble gobble gobble and these birds would answer him everytime,a few minutes later they came across an opening and came up right to them,the video was funny as hell but hunting dumb birds like that wouldn't be worth the trip to me.Birds in Alabama are spotty,there may be one area of a county eat up with them and ten miles down the road not so much,my cousin had some of that prime south Tennessee land a few years ago and my dad and uncle said they have never been to a place with birds like that,he said it was nothing to hear 20+ birds a day.

I am the same way on a club, me and one other is all I want on 1000 acres or less. If I wanted to worry about someone else I would hunt public land. I learned to turkey hunt on a place that was just over 1400 acres and it had 14 turkey hunters in it. Opening day was a cluster, but most of us usually limited out on it. There were a few years that we killed 40+ birds off of 1400 acres though, it was loaded.

Now wait a minute...Nebraska has lots of birds and they ARE dumb compared to the birds I hunt in the hills of Jackson County, but the three I killed last year weren't THAT dumb!

Ain't no birds in Jackson County or southern Tennessee they are all in limestone county , south Bama and Nebraska. Wouldn't even bother with the 1 maybe 2 birds in southern Tennessee or Jackson county.
