Having a Lifetime License should have one Grandfathered in I agree with that. I actually looked recently, and a lifetime license grants you lifetime "privileges". How does that work out for you when you want to duck hunt? Don't you just have to buy a federal duck stamp if you have a lifetime state license?

How about this....All of you baiters got what you wanted now just pay your $15 and shut up about it. From what I can tell, majority of folks didn’t want this law but what ever.

I don't think you'd have to buy a state duck stamp, but I haven't tried to duck hunt Alabama since I left the state.

I'm not buying until the DCNR has put their rules on it . well all probably be forced to buy it or end up risking getting a ticket for somebody else's corn pile. we've already got members that have the attitude of if you can spend X amount of money on club dues and wont spend $15 on a permit screw you. I have a feeling there is gonna be a corn pile in everyone's favorite Greenfield and a lot of bitching over who is hunting over it.

Well how about this? I’m a lifetime license holder. I hunt my own private land. My father is on the deed and is old enough not to have a license. My son is 10 and is not required to have a license. So if we want to bait, do we need one permit? 3 permits? I think the whole thing is a crock of crap! I have killed a ton of deer in my life by the letter of the law. I will continue to do so. All the law does is give the ability for a legal hunter to get on even keel with the outlaw hunter. Maybe next year you will be able to get a $20 permit that lets you hunt from a public road at night. When you play a sport you have rules. If you don’t follow the rules and get caught, there are consequences. Like it or not, the rules of hunting have changed in the state of Alabama for deer hunting. Either follow them, or be an outlaw. I just want the state to clear up all of the gray area, that’s what frustrates me.

You spent that $500 for the right to never have to spend money to hunt again. That includes lifetime hunting "privileges", so it should be interesting to see how that unfolds. Out of you 3, there's a legitimate argument that none of you should have to pay to hunt over corn.

if Chuckie has anything to do with it then under 16 and over 65's, and landowners too, will have to get the permit to hunt over bait. Can't let those leaches get away without paying.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Have you read the law??? It specifically states "A person exempt from purchasing a hunting license shall not be exempt from the requirement to purchase a bait privilege license" Pretty straight forward. Like it or not its plain as day as compared to some of our other game laws.

Don't fall for the notion that you have to out-feed your neighbors. You want to have land that is a deer magnet? Improve habitat. Reduce hunting pressure. Hunt smarter.

I didn’t bait, and I have never needed to to kill deer. It won’t change a thing. When I kill a deer I bust the stomach afterwards to see what they have been eating. I haven’t seen one in 20 years that didn’t have corn in it. What I don’t like about the idea of baiting is, instead of putting out green fields and quality browse for deer to eat, now you will see deer stands sitting over a feeder. Nothing else. Deer don’t get any benefit from eating corn.

I'll be surprised if there are any deer left in the state by December 1. Between being able to kill them all due to corn and the CWD that will kill the rest.....it will be a wasteland.

in all seriousness, when putting out corn its best to spread it out over a greenfield. One reason is because if its in a pile they'll fight and run deer off. Plus it alows them to browse and graze. Also cuts down on aflotoxin.

Even as a lifetime hunting license holder you are still required to buy a state duck stamp. The only way around buying one every year is to buy a lifetime state duck stamp (it looks like they just came out with that option). If you are under 16 or older than 65 then you do not have to buy a state duck stamp.
