Got some critters messing with my bee hives. Using a live trap how far will I need to relocate possums and/or raccoons to insure they do not return? Tried Google for information and minimum of 5 miles was the answer and that 10 miles was better. Hard to believe they need to be moved that far but would not be asking if I knew. Do not mind taking them for a short ride but will just shot them before I spend the time and gas to haul them 5 miles or more.

pretty sure transporting live is illegal... Only got a verbal reply from our local GW (Henry County) and he said it was okay to relocate/release all but feral swine. Thought I did think it odd that the regs. read "unlawful to to release LIVE feral swine". What other kind of hogs could you release except live one?

Would not be moving across county line but from what has been shared so far I will just pop them with .22. Since it is legal to kill them any time of the year do not even have to follow the three S's rule of Shot, Shovel, and Shut-up. Can just kill and bury. "It is illegal to translocate raccoons in the state of Alabama to a location across county lines or a river drainage because of potential health risk (i.e. rabies)."

There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

Truth is I had not thought it through. Just set the trap 1st time last night and caught a possum which I had planned to kill but wife was with me so I had to haul it off. Was not a big problem since I was not going to bait and reset tonight because of church and unable to check tomorrow so just pulled the trap and dumped it out on the way home. Sure not going to do that every time, though. So I guess my original question is null and void as I will just kill the rest.

I've trapped a bunch of those egg sucking varmints. I always relocated them to coon/possum heaven or hell whichever applied. No redeeming qualities that I can think of
