Does anyone have any information on hog hunting at Ft. Rucker? I've heard that they are looking for people to come in and hunt, but other than that, I don't know much else. Any help would be appreciated.

Hunt around the north impact area, plenty of hogs up here north of highway 27.

You have to jump through some hoops to be able to hunt. Have to go buy an additional ft rucker license and register your gun. Also, you have to have taken a hunter ed course even if you are exempt from the state of AL's requirements...they will need your hunter education number when you go to get a license. You have to call a number and "sign" into the zone you plan to hunt. Sometimes the zones will be closed without much notice so if you call the morning of on your way to hunt, it might be closed.

I don't think you can buy a license or register your gun unless you physically go in person.

Also, in order to gain entry to the base you have to have a pass. This is pretty easy to get as a civilian (as i am), but you won't be able to get on the base without it.

I turkey hunted there one year. The hoops weren't all that bad. It definitely cuts down on the hunting crowd.

Ozark is right except they use isportsman.com to do everything now. You can do all he mentioned except register your gun and get a pass on that site and almost forgot have to go to mwr to get truck placard.

Plenty of hogs.

Probably a good thing! That call in system was bad. Last time I hunted there was Spring 2017.

Ozark explained the process I did when I went a few years ago. They have a beautiful campground and cabin on base and the only requirement was a CAC card as I am a civilian.

Is the impact area on 27 or do I need to turn onto a different road?

The Hoops and Isportsman are pretty standard. Its ok hunting but I like chilling out on the lake cabins and fishin.

I wish civilians couldn’t use it, y’all didn’t earn it. That damn “Sike’s Act”....Bad word!

Military land

I think it should be available for active duty first, disable retired second, retired, then civilian employees.

Don’t even wanna hear the tax payer excuse.

Dilly Dilly!
A military ID, in some form, should be a minimum requirement!

Lawyers sue and such under the Sike’s Act for civilians to use the resources. What happens is some instances is everybody loses based on “base security” assessment where they won’t allow hunting. Hell, some places require a background check to hunt.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikes_Act

Its really a no-win in the end for GI’s

One no-win place is McAlester Army Depot where hunting is turned over to the state for an incredible money making piss poor odds draw.

I would if and when they allow baiting and the use of the 200 traps on post.
