Tough crowd.
For whatever reason those newer Ford's don't seem to have the same abilities as the older models. Probably has to do with not wanting to mess up a great looking truck. I would probably baby it too. Heck, I borrowed my friends new Honda pioneer this weekend and I eased around so not to get it muddy (failed).
I've been stuck a few times too. You did the right thing by giving up early. I always seem to think I'll get it out and end up creating a huge mess.

Gomer this is the way it’s supposed to look the next day after a rainstorm after getting stuck. The wheels look a little clean because I had to spray it out a little so it wouldn’t beat the fillings out of my teeth driving home ![[Linked Image]](http://i66.tinypic.com/nn89cx.jpg)

Everybody ragging on him about not looking that stuck. At least he had the decency not to bury it to the frame before he called for help. I live and work in the woods and have seen it many times. So many folks don't know when to quit. Makes getting them out a real pain in the ass. What should be a simple bump and tug with a strap, turns into a big job that risks you tearing up your truck and theirs.
And speed surely isn't always the answer. Just ask the guy I pulled out last summer with a hydro locked motor in probably less than knee deep water. If he would have eased through, his new to him jacked up jeep wouldn't have been making all those weird noises when he insisted on having me pull start him over and over till it bent god knows what deep in that engine. The whole time, he was cussing the starter for not turning over that locked up motor. Even put a second one on it with no change. Wouldn't listen to me telling him that his engine was full of water, just kept popping that clutch as I was towing him back to a better road. Ain't locked up no more, but it sure was smoking. Did you read his second post? He said he was already FRAMED out 🤣🤣🤣

My 91’ 4Runner would’ve crossed that in 2wd in first gear.

Well maybe we need to have an Aldeer meet up at that mud hole one weekend. i got one for yall to try its on the other end of the forest near mapelsville. i pulled up to it and said oh hell no.. those dam kids have tore that little section of road into a complete mess. and its a main road.
if i hadnt taken up hunting i might have became a juvenile delinquent or worst taken up GOLF

There’s a dirt county road in Monroe county in Old Texas that I doubt many on here could make it down. I tried it several years ago in a F250 after being told by an old man that knew what he was talking about not to. Looks can be deceiving like the picture Gomer posted.

Repeat as needed. Fun times! Rocking it with manual will save your arse a many times. I know an old '66 Ford 3 speed with Mud tires in rear in sand and mud this got me out a lot. I would slam it in reverse just as soon as it hit a stop and gun it backwards then same thing forward.
