Well maybe we need to have an Aldeer meet up at that mud hole one weekend. I'd be down to watch some of these folks show us how it's done

I think I had more mud on my truck from running a dry road than I see on that truck.

That puddle ain't nothing worth putting my GMC in 4 wheel drive over. I had mine in a slight bind a couple weeks ago making sure our roads were open after a couple tornados passed through our area. RTH and I were sideways in the road with water halfway up the doors and I wound up backing out through the woods before we got her lined out. Lol! Took a Dozier to fix the roads after we got out!

The only thing I see you did wrong was hit it at a creep. Judging from the lack of mud on the front of the truck you couldn’t have been more than idle speed when you hit that hole. Seriously you could probably make it with some speed and 2wd.

In some situations that dang traction control will get you stuck. 1st truck I had with it I could not figure out why I couldn’t get it to spin and clean out the tires. I needed a run and go and I would have been out. Finally figured it out. The newer fords that have the differential lock is pretty handy.

In some situations that dang traction control will get you stuck.... yes! I slid down the apex of a curve in a muddy turn row into a freshly rained on field b/c of it. had to pull the manual out to figure out how to turn it off, while waiting on my buddy to come yank me out...once it was all off, no problems. all that electronic stuff is for ice and snow, not mud.

Yep, I did notice that I was having trouble keeping the tires spinning to not get them packed and sure enough, once I turned off the traction control, it let me spin them a lot better.

I do suspect that if I'd
A) locked the differential ahead of time, and
B) hit it with a little more speed
this thread never would have happened. And yes, I know better...this wasn't my first rodeo. But, I err'd on the side of caution and it, at least, made for a fun story.

Everybody ragging on him about not looking that stuck. At least he had the decency not to bury it to the frame before he called for help. I live and work in the woods and have seen it many times. So many folks don't know when to quit. Makes getting them out a real pain in the ass. What should be a simple bump and tug with a strap, turns into a big job that risks you tearing up your truck and theirs.
And speed surely isn't always the answer. Just ask the guy I pulled out last summer with a hydro locked motor in probably less than knee deep water. If he would have eased through, his new to him jacked up jeep wouldn't have been making all those weird noises when he insisted on having me pull start him over and over till it bent god knows what deep in that engine. The whole time, he was cussing the starter for not turning over that locked up motor. Even put a second one on it with no change. Wouldn't listen to me telling him that his engine was full of water, just kept popping that clutch as I was towing him back to a better road. Ain't locked up no more, but it sure was smoking.

I figured it'd be good for a laugh, but no, I wouldn't have guessed it would go 6+ pages. Y'all must be bored to tears the last couple of days.
