How good is the hunting around,or in Dozier Al any info would be greatly appreciated.Im thinking about buying a small plot of land 30 acres just for myself and before I go through with it I figured I'd ask the good people on Aldeer ,thanks and God bless?

Crenshaw county? Probably be pretty decent if your close to the patsaliga. Seems i remember there being some hogs up that way

I am from that area originally. 15 or so miles north of there. Lot of deer and some really good ones once in a while. I think you would be happy with the area.

There’s a lot of these questions that folks ask about this or that area around the state……But until you narrow it down to the specific piece of property and the neighbors that surround it…..then you can really only get an answer that is very, very generalized. Things just vary so much depending on the habitat and management practices from place to place. There may be a drastic difference in quality between properties that are only a few miles apart. If you asked someone on here about Bullock Co for instance then folks would probably tell you that the hunting is outstanding……but depending on the neighbors and the land management practices of that particular piece of property….it may be just as average as you would find anywhere else.

If I were looking to buy a small piece of property for hunting like you’re doing then about the most important thing you need to know is….”Who are the neighbors?.....How much land do they own?......How are they managing their place from the standpoint of habitat and what they kill?”…..It’s gonna likely be what makes or breaks the potential of your place on a piece of property that size. Look for small properties that are in areas with large private landowners if possible or at least large land holding clubs. I would probably avoid buying anything that was surrounded by a lot of other small landowners unless it was just a special situation where maybe they had all formed a cooperative or something….The hunting pressure is still likely to be really high though.

Yep. I'd also avoid land near timber company land. That means clubs. And that's rarely good. Lots of clubs get pressured more than public land.

My great grandparents lived in Dozier, they died back in the late 80's as best as I remember. Last name was Wells, little old farm house on a red dirt / sand road, some peanuts fields and cattle pastures.
I remember as a kid it seemed like there was a bazillion deer around there, like there was literally ALWAYS deer in the pastures.
