I've killed a few with my savage 110 in .270 and as many with my rem 7600 30-06 but they almost always run 40-100 yards even with a double lung/heart shot. I just got a 45/70 I'm itching to try in the woods. which load should I use? i wanted to pick up some buffalo bore hot loads for it, didnt know if I should go with the 300 or 400 grain Depends on how much punch your shoulder can take.
