Anyone got the name/number of a tracker and dog for Madison/Jackson county? The only one listed here for this area (Tom Munoz) ain’t tracking anymore.

Well guys, I shot a good buck this afternoon, and he immediately went down. It was thick where he was, and I couldn’t see him on the ground. 3-4 minutes later I see movement, and could tell he was dragging himself along on his front legs, but I had no shot. He was headed towards an opening, so I figured I’d drop him there with a second shot... he never appeared there, and I never saw him again. After I got down to where he was when I shot, the blood trail showed that he went straight away down the hill from me. I’ve called seven different people about a dog, with zero luck. Turns out that Munoz does still track, but he wasn’t interested in my deer... I may have hit him high (high backslap), but I don’t know for sure. Take a look at the pics below and tell me your thoughts, based on the blood. This was where I shot him. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/CRURFZD.jpg) And this was the last blood I found before dark. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/7hataYM.jpg)

I’ve been fortunate enough to never need a dog, knock on wood, but claimsrep I think I’d chase after that deer without aid of a dog, I think he is dead.

I help a friend recover his deer a few weeks ago and the blood looks similar to his deer . He hit his deer back and it was dragging its rear legs as well . We caught up with it about a quarter mile from where he was originally shot and it had expired . We waited a couple hours before tracking him to keep from pushing him .

Did you lose blood or back out? I was running out of daylight and it was getting hard to find the blood,so I decided to back out. I plan to get out there tomorrow around 0900, and will hopefully be able to find the blood quickly and pick back up on the track.

You made a good decision. How far did you track him before you came out?

I can assure you, there’s one fella I won’t ever be calling again. One guy I spoke with (Brandon Reeves) was a good guy and we talked for several minutes. He just couldn’t make the track work for tomorrow morning due to work - and I totally get that. Good Lord willing, I’ll find him tomorrow before lunch. No cell service where I’ll be, so it’ll be late tomorrow before I can give y’all an update. Which me luck!
