Took my 10 year old for a quick hunt this morning - had deer moving by 6:15/6:20. Had a nice 8 point step out at 7:00 but it just wasn't meant to be- i think buck fever struck hard. Clean miss - no hair, no blood, no mule kick and no bull dozing. We did our due diligence though - he understands now what kind of effort has to be made to be sure you don't have a wounded animal. But now he is fired up to go back because thats the 2nd encounter we've had with that buck. (Buck -2 US- 0). And......walking out there was a nice broken off 8 point standing in the road. He stood there and stared us down while i showed my son the log loader behind him about 50 yards through the trees loading a truck and reminded him of the the importance of knowing whats behind your target. No deer today but I'll bet he learned more this morning than he would have learned at school those 2 hours. (That would have been his firs buck)

Great job!!! My son missed one Saturday afternoon while hunting with my dad (he said his pawpaw was his good luck charm hunting and traded me in) and he got the due diligence lesson as well. Time with family makes this the best to me!!

I’m here for the day. Had a young 6 point ease through around 10:30. I’ve got a stud 8 point on camera, in this area, that I’m hoping shows up.

My buddy killed a big, gorgeous 8pt in Macon at 8:25. He was trolling alone. No does around.

Dr. B I figured someone should. These really cold clear mornings like today I've seen most of the better bucks in my experience in that time frame.

I’m in the stand in north Marengo county.. big cull was standing in the wood line when I walked up.. opted to let him walk for now and see what the rest of the day brings. Hope I don’t regret it..

It wasn’t planted. It has stuff come up from past years I guess.

Y'all still seeing any chasing? I didn't see any on Sunday, but hope to go again this weekend.
