We're closing schools tomorrow for the possibility of flurries. 😞
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

I remember growing up in Florida, I think I was in about the 2nd grade, we looked out the window and it was snowing. All the kids ran out the door , abandoning the Teacher, and started playing in it. The buses ran their normal schedule and everybody survived.

We all laugh about it, but if we were school administrators, we'd be canceling schools too. It's just a common sense precaution. A lot of folks would't send their kids anyway.

We're closing schools tomorrow for the possibility of flurries. 😞 No, we're closing schools tomorrow due to the possibility of lawyers.

I normally would 100% agree with all of the hysteria over some flurries. Normally much ado about nothing.
But...
At least in Birmingham area January 2014 that 2 inches of light snow caused major travel issues with thousands of people stranded trying to drive home or get their kids from school. Tons of area schools had to keep kids overnight because parents could not make it to pick them up and buses could not make it out of the parking lots. People leaving Birmingham had to walk miles or even spend the night in their cars. I know because I drove stranded motorists all over Hoover and Bluff park for hours and I went to pick up elementary and middle school aged kids who had been stuck at school overnight because their parents did not have 4WD vehicles.
So tomorrow has potential...maybe...Supposedly conditions tomorrow are at least expected/forcasted/guessed to be-- "possibly" similar to that event where some snow will come, and since the roads are warm from today the snow will melt some...then backside of snow will be a big drop in temps so any wet surface could flash fhreeze over with maybe some more snow on top...just a small snow in total but with a layer of ice underneath. so any hill or grade becomes a major travel issue for non 4WD or AWD vehicles. It all depends on many variables but "they" say it is possible.
Do we want a school bus full of kids to slide down a hill or embankment in .25 inches of ice covered by .75 inches of snow\...get stuck...kids get hurt...freezing temps...etc..??? I see the reason for abundance of caution based on what happened in 2014.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8
"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. Samuel Adams

I'd sooner have a ft of snow over .25 in of ice! These lake effect storms are a lot of work but they're also kinda cool. I doubt y'all can even imagine how hard it snows. It's difficult to describe but when you're outside in it, the silence is deafening.

One of my best customers lives in Williamsville NY. he has told me about the lake effect snow and it is no joke, I can't imagine getting 3' of snow in a couple hours, the funny thing is he hates cold wather with a passion, i keep telling him he needs to sell out and move down here...
