Got this one on MLK day (1-21-19). I have had one cam up for 2 years within 200yds of where I shot him, and moved other cams around the area within a very close proximity and never seen this guy. One of my club buds said he had him on cam last year as an 8pt, but had not seen him this year, so I'll wait to see those pics to confirm. I hunted from Thurs. afternoon til Mon. morning. Heat, rain, wind, then finally a nice, brisk morning with a light north wind. They were active. Saw a doe and younun' with a spike not far behind them, then a half rack that would have been a little 8pt basket rack, followed by a 6pt, and a 7pt that came so close to my ground blind I could have put the muzzle of my rifle against him if I could have moved. I was hunting a logging road that runs between a 4yr old clearcut, and an older clearcut with thick pines not big enough to climb yet. It's my favorite spot on the whole club. I killed a 10pt there last year too. It's the type place to be when the rut kicks in and they are chasing. The deer were coming and going from the clearcut yesterday, clearly looking for does. I texted a buddy of mine to tell him the great sit I was having, and within 10 minutes, this guy stepped out at about 100yds, and looked dead away from me. The first thing I noticed was the spread! I actually thought is was another wide antlered 9pt I had on cam, so the custom .280 reported and I sent a 160 Accubond down range, and it found the intended mark with a double lung shot. I found blood where he stood, and he was piled up in the clearcut about 50 yards from there. Blessed and grateful! Thanks for letting me share. H/T to AU338MAG for my handloads.

Congrats.

Like those 280 Accubonds too.
I use the 140s.
