I keep saying I'm going to hunt with my AR, but the fact is, I usually have a hard time just stepping down from my .280 with 160 Accubonds, to my 7x57 with 139 Hornady's. I like bang flops or at least a short tracking job if they don't bang flop.

nobody supports, and shoots well, with a lighter barrel. Best off hand gun I own is a long barreled 264 with a heavy, long German scope on it. I killed a doe in Greene Co at 250 yards shooting standing offhand in a sage field. Me standing offhand, not the damn doe for ya smartasses.....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I used to do ALL my practice shooting off hand with no support. A LOT with a .22 single shot at 20 yards and 1/2" target. If you can shoot offhand you can shoot any position. I also shot on the State Police Rifle team, most of the competition was offhand, some with a sling.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

In my younger days I used to practice off hand shots while skwerl huntin. Got pretty good and best shot I made was a head shot at 82 steps on one that was hanging upside down from a limb at the top of a very large oak. I would have tried long off hand shots on deer back then, but not anymore.

Damn AU338MAG.....you have gone Big Bore since you were shooting a 7x57 Mauser! I remember your Dad would pack that case so full, the bullet would barely be in the case!
