Anyone own both of these or have any experience with these scopes. Is the 5 worth the extra money. Seems all the VX 5's come with side focus which I probably don't need in situations I hunt in. And I am not sure if you can get the VX 3 with illuminated reticle which is what I want. Really just trying to find out if the glass and low light ability of the VX 5 is worth the money over the VX3.

I have both. I'll take the 5 all day over the other but the other is ok. You can get a vx5hd for just a shade over $700 with firedot reticle

The VX3 is no longer produced by Leupold or available.

Perhaps you mean the VX-3i?

The VX-3i is a good scope but it is not available in a 40, 42 or 44 mm objective, to my knowledge, with an IR.

You have to step up to the 56 mm objective in the VX-3i to get it with an IR.

I just purchased two brand new Leupold VX-5HD scopes in 3-15 x 44 mm, 30 mm tube, with Duplex Firedot IR and side focus.

Got them for $718.39 each.

Most places they are $999.99 each.

They are scheduled for delivery to me tomorrow.

I bought a vx-3i 4.5-14x50 with s standard reticle. I love it. I couldn't justify the extra money for something more. It was a new scope for a new rifle which of course involved new rings, flip covers, case, sling, ammo, etc, etc..... I just could just8more because that scope worked for me. And it's great.

That being said, you better believe I would have bought a 5 if I could have. The 3 isn't junk. It's fantastic. Doesn't mean you can't get better. If you can get either, then but the better one and be done with it.

I don't see them for that price either. We're they on sale or is there a coupon code?

Like cuz-pat said. Swfa’s 110% price match guarantee. You basically find it cheaper than swfa, then email them to beat the price.
