Hey guys I got a 170 inch deer in a bean field in Nebraska and I'm an outfitter. He shows up at the feeder or crosses the fence line at the same spot every day at 4:00PM. I've been watching him all Summer out my truck window. I am going to call every blowhard on the Sportsman and Outdoor Channel and see which group I am going get to come out and shoot it based on how man seconds I get to put my "Outfitter" name on the TV screen and how may times these guys can give me a plug while they are talking.

Good to know that someone out there is actually hunting. I don't care if they get sponsors and start plugging some treestand company just as long as they don't turn it into a commercial and they keep hunting like they are doing.
If you THINK that is what happens you couldnt be further from the truth. I know I did Outdoor TV for 15 years and you are very sadly mistaken.
Heck, 99% of outfitters HATE hunting TV folks these days as every Tom , Dick and Harry with a digital camera hits them up doing this TV show , or that TV show...looking for free hunts. Most have been scammed by outdoor TV folks and want no part of them.
That happens IN YOUR MIND only, AND IS not EVEN CLOSE TO REALITY.
We had our own LEASES in KY, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana etc and scouted, set up stands and hunted. Wed make multiple trips there in the heat of the summer, scouting, setting up stands and generally WORKING OUR ARSES OFF!
Just LIKE I STILL do on my out of state leases. There are guys right here on this site who've been there and done it with me. It is hot, miserable and tiring work.
Most outdoor TV shows are hunting in those states for a REASON. They have BIG bucks there. And the industry is driven by Big bucks being harvested. If you want to get sponsors dollars you have to shoot big bucks generally speaking. Sponsors arent paying you big dollars to go stick a fork horn buck on TV...it is just reality. The TV viewer wants to see big bucks dying...fair chase.
You very rarely get any calls from outfitters PERIOD, though in the older days we would (late 90's early 2000's). The only outfitters we worked with were guys who we met when we first started and they were first starting and we hunted their lands and promoted their business over years of working together.
And even then..if youre hunting big whitetails...youre paying for them...maybe a reduced rate..but youre still paying.
A lot of you have NO IDEA how it really works but boy, youre sure experts about it...
All anyone has to do is just ask...you know all about it. Too freaking funny...
