I'm having a hard time picturing what he means by filling the sausage with cream cheese in the first link. Does he mean slicing it to make like a canoe and filling with cream cheese and then proceeding with the bacon and so forth?

From what I have seen the bacon is wrapped around the sausage and then the area above the sausage is filled.

This isn't any different than what I cook in the crockpot. The smoke may add a little flavor but is a lot of extra work. However, I'll try it because I enjoy smoking on the BGE.
