How long will lime last in sandy soil? Macon county Al. Is it necessary to sample soil annually?

I would test it every 3 years just to see where you are . That's what i have always been told but maybe someone else can chime in that may know more .

Took me 2-3 years to adjust pH from 5 to 6.7. Sandy soil where we cleared pines. That was about 5-10 years ago. Soil test show it’s still close to 6.7. I think cover crops and minimal (or no-till) help tremendously with keeping pH stable

Also ag lime takes longer to work, but also lasts longer. Then pelletized lime quicker but less longevity, and liquid has very little longevity.
