According the the DCNR upcoming changes, it says “deer urine products” will be illegal, or at least that’s proposed. Does that also go for collecting it yourself from a harvester deer?

I'd bet money that it will be ALL natural urine products since they don't have a clue how CWD is spread. The synthetic market will get cranked up for those that just gotta have that kind of stuff.

will the ban affect all natural urine or just commercial products? will it be illegal to use the urine self collected from a freshly harvested Alabama deer? What about fresh tarsal glands cut from a buck?

The wording for the proposed regulation is still being discussed and I am unable to answer your question at this time because we are not sure how the final regulation will read. Please ask again next spring or attend one of the spring Conservation Advisory Board meetings to listen or give input.

Office: 334-347-9467 If they're still trying to decide the wording then that's really sad. This urine ban was announced last spring, to be in effect during the 2019 hunting season. Seven, eight months later they're still trying to figure it out? Why? Because money is involved. Someone's getting paid, ain't getting paid, wants to get paid or is trying to push this off until the new Legislature, Lieutenant Governor and Governor are formally in place when the session begins. This will be just like the "feeding" vs. "baiting" hooey - nothing clear cut, nothing definitive, something won't be allowed but something will be, etc.

Maybe they should outlaw deer pens, where CWD started? Nah.... Put a High Fence around the whole state and tear down all those already up within it. Elk, Sika, Fallow, Aoudad, etc. Make them all free range game. Wouldn't that piss some powerful people off?

I pour my store bought pee in a container with no label. How they gonna know which is real which is not. They gonna ban all of it. I guess they think deer don't pee and defacate around white oaks, green fields and other food sources. Sounds like some intense research on this matter.

If they cut the buck limit to one per season most of the clubs will be forced to shut down or the landowners will have to drop their lease prices to $3 or so an acre. It is hard enough now to fund a club.
