I am 140 South of Houma LA on a Deep Water Semi and the bad weather rolled in yesterday. I have never seen swells as big as I have since yesterday. Multiple 25-27 foot swells and wind at 50 mph. To make matters worse it's my day to go home after 28 days but the Helicopters are shut down until all this is over. Ready to get home and see the Wifey and kiddo's.

Do you guys even feel those, even the littlest bit or those stabilizers that good? So what do you do when you are done with your shift but still stuck out there? It's moving on out, so hopefully they'll have them flying again soon.

Oh yes we feel them. We are basically floating on 2 large Pontoon's. We have to keep working until our reliefs make it out here.

I don't blame it one bit for being off. Maybe it'll break open tomorrow

The wind WNW here in SW la. Probably 10-12mph with the occasional 20 mph gust. No sure what the wind limits are but I bet that bird would be rocking as hard as the rig you're on.

West northwest at about 30 mph here on Dauphin Island. Rough, nasty day. I'm hunkering down.

I know nothing about an oil rig, but that doesn’t sound good

I talked to DoA last night via email and he is on a drill ship somewhere south of LA, too, and he said there were big swells. I would guess that with the drill ships' DPO systems maybe the folks aboard them don't feel it as much as those on the semi-submersibles do.

Hopefully, you won't be out there but one extra day (and the extra OT eases that frustration a bit).

What rig are you on?

Helix Q4000. We have DPO systems but with 6 engines running they are still having trouble keeping us in place but it's looking better.

I have worked & been onboard the Q 4000 a few times. At 0200 this morning, the winds 9 miles south of Dauphin Island was NW at 25 to 30, with gust to 35mph. Wind has dropped out a lot since then. Only 15 to 18 still NW
Forecast to drop to less than 15 in the morning & switch to SW. have your bags packed in the morning & be glad your not riding a supply boat or crew boat in.
Be safe & Merry Christmas
