For who is an outlaw and who is not, think about this: Compare the fine for not reporting to GC vs. the fine for speeding. If you speed at any point, according to the fines, you are much more of an outlaw vs. someone not using GC. Breaking the law is breaking the law and we all do it at one time or another.

Amen to that. As the saying goes “ know the law and don’t pay....don’t know the law and do pay”

other than Bham grinyou can lay a fully loaded rifle on the dash and drive thru Montgomery legally. You can drive all over yer land with it there. You can drive around the club likewise. GW tells you it is illegal TELL HIM TO SHOW YOU THE LAW/REG. It doesn't exist.

3. It is illegal to hunt with the aid of a motor vehicle. It used to be enforced all around, no sitting on/in while hunting. That changed around 1985-1990, allowing you to park on the gas line, engine running while hunting. (kind of like the "salt is legal" enforcement. If you are driving around a big pasture looking for deer, stopping and glassing, sticking gun out the window to look, you could be arrested for hunting from a motor vehicle.

Shooting from a public road from the vehicle could get you a public road ticket, motor vehicle ticket, permit ticket (if on someone else land with no permission).

Number 3 is not correct - as long as the vehicle's motor is shut off you can hunt from it. Per Alabama regulation 220-2-.02 - Persons may hunt from a floating craft or motor vehicle once the motor is shut off and all forward motion has ceased. It is not legal to hunt from a vehicle on a public road.

Groundwawg, I believe you need to go back and reread B'hamFred's post, done it before, this time a little slower. Ask me how I know.

...or a shotgun. But good luck telling folks this. They'll tell you "I've never had a problem".

I've never had a drinking while hunting problem. I've got tons of experience, at both, and I'm probably an expert hunting drinker by now. I've honed my skill to perfection.

I bet more than 50% are.

So one out every two people who post here is an outlaw? grin

To be an Aldeer Outlaw, does one simply have to break 1 law....just 1 time? Or is there a minimum number of laws broken, or a frequency, that is required to be labeled an Aldeer Outlaw? Does that label include a special window decal besides the regular sticker?

As the Aldeer Outlaw leader, I'll clarify that for you.
To qualify as an Aldeer Outlaw, one must refuse to comply with at least one law, or game regulation, everyday. However, if in the course of said violation, you happen to kill an enviable deer or turkey then you automatically attain Outlaw status upon said offense.

I think to be an official ALDEER outlaw you have to put a "1%er" decal next to you ALDEER Sticker. Or is it "50%er" ?

Again, I don’t care what a GW told you, I don’t care what you think, I don’t care what your daddy always said. There is no crime in having a loaded long gun in your vehicle.

as per that reg it is still illegal to hunt by aid of motor vehicle, like I stated above. Late 80's enforcement changed to allow sitting in a stationary vehicle and later reg wording was changed to reflect that enforcement. Now enforcement allows sitting in vehicle with motor running as I remember from before I retired. May be different now.

That is what I have always understood - from reading the regs.

Fred's point, I believe, is the regulation is not law. In fact it contradicts the law.
But that's kinda like a warning ticket, if they don't enforce it then the regulation becomes law.

There’s gotta be some jack legg out there with a 5.7 vortec, and a steel brush guard doing 50 down a dirt road just hoping for a deer to jump out in the road. But that’s probably legal.

It's legal, but expensive. I've done it twice. The brush guards won't save headlights and quarter panels, when a fat doe catches one corner and spins around to slap the front fender.
The last one even got my passenger door and mirror.

Well, technically, I believe any public road without a POSTED speed limit is something like 30 or 35mph, by default......so BOOM...Illegal.
