The Pope apparently doesn’t like the wording “Lead us not into temptation.” Says it’s not an accurate translation. Going to change it. I don’t like it one dadgum bit. I think it’s a dangerous precedent when you start changing stuff. Of course I’m not Catholic and it won’t affect me. Lord's Prayer Change

I think this is the most liberal pope the Catholic Church has ever had. I don’t understand Catholicism and never will. I’m glad I’m washed by the blood of Jesus and need nothing from a pope.

I like his reasoning. Jesus didn't write the KJV ,as some seem to think.
The "Lord's prayer" is not "a" prayer anyway. It is an outline as to how to pray.

Is there some sort of impeachment process the Catholics can use for this guy? I would be ashamed of him if I were Catholic.

I think this is the most liberal pope the Catholic Church has ever had. I hunt with an older gentleman that is Catholic, and he has made this statement several times to me in the past couple of years. He is not a big fan.

I like his reasoning. I don't know of any passage of scripture that supports the idea that God leads us into temptation. If we are following God's will daily I don't see where He would lead us into temptation. If anyone has a passage that says anything different I'd truly like to know. There is scripture that speaks of Him being "a light unto my path". He will also help us find a way out of troubles. I know that He allowed satan to take all of Job's possessions in order to prove his devotion to God. Which would support the "not abandoning unto temptation". I have to say that I do not know Greek or Aramaic but that is on my list because of topics like this.

I know that He allowed satan to take all of Job's possessions in order to prove his devotion to God. Which would support the "not abandoning unto temptation". I have to say that I do not know Greek or Aramaic but that is on my list because of topics like this. What you just said about the book of Job is only what you have been told. Scripture doesn't say that at all. Everyone reads it as if God says to Satan, "Now I'm giving you Job to do anything you want to with except kill him". All God ever said to Satan according to the book of Job is "behold ,he is in your hand, only touch not his life." God simply told Satan the truth, that Job had allowed Satan access to his life through fear. God only said "behold he is in your hand." Behold" only means, look and see. It doesn't mean, I am giving Job to you, as we have read it to mean. I can tell you that Job was the cause of all his troubles, and the book of Job tells you that if it can be read with understanding. Everyone thinks Job completely innocent in his troubles because the scripture says he was perfect and upright. That doesn't mean he never messed up. It just means he was right with God,or we could say simply keeping the covenant he had with God. Same deal with Abraham, who never broke his covenant with God,yet his fear caused his wife to get put in a harem and he messed up again by sleeping with her servant, which caused just about all the trouble in the world today and will eventually start Armageddon. There are two scriptures in Job that will give understanding if you meditate on them and why they were written. one is "thus did Job continually" which speaks of the sacrifices he made for his children. The proper way would have been to have faith in the first sacrifice, but Job was afraid. The second phrase to consider is very much connected to the sacrifices and all Job's problems. It is when Job said, "The thing I greatly feared has come upon me." Job opened the door to Satan all by himself,God just spoke the truth to Satan but reminded him that Job's covenant still protected his life.

Here is the impeachment process.... ““Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it. “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So you’ll recognize them by their fruit. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord! ’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name? ’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’” Matthew 7:13-23 HCSB http://bible.com/72/mat.7.13-23.hcsbJesus Christ has made it very clear so no one will be excused. Religion and good works are useless for eternal life! Only a personal relationship with God through the forgiveness of Jesus’s blood will satisfy the soul of a person. Please don’t be fooled by mans thoughts! Read the Bible and seek God!
Sow righteousness for yourselves and reap faithful love; break up your unplowed ground. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and sends righteousness on you like the rain. - Hosea 10:12

The pope, much like England's royal family, means absolutely nothing to anyone with a brain.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

Matt 4:1 - Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.
God does not tempt anyone with evil - Jas 1:13
Therefore, in the model prayer, Jesus is telling us to pray not to be led to a place where the devil will tempt us.
The pope has no biblical authority for ANYTHING. If that were such an important position, I would think that God would have at least mentioned it in scripture...

I've always just assumed that "Lead us not into temptation" was saying "Lead us away from temptation", and didn't give it much thought otherwise.

Matt 4:1 - Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.
God does not tempt anyone with evil - Jas 1:13 Nailed it. 1st and foremost, you have be willing to be led by Christ. When Christ is your pilot and not your co-pilot (never understand that bumper sticker) temptation is a moot point.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

The pope has no biblical authority for ANYTHING. If that were such an important position, I would think that God would have at least mentioned it in scripture... That's the whole problem with building a doctrine based on a few words in a few scriptures. Suppose that in your example the very seemingly insignificant "to be" phraseology was misplaced or wrongly added by the translator. It might be that "and was" would be a better fit and would not include the connotation as "to be." That may not be the case at all but it should be an example of what the Pope is trying to do,which is to be true to the Word of God as much as possible rather than your tradition of how many preachers have claimed that for how many years.
