I have been looking for a scope to put on a 224 valkyrie build. I have used vortex and leupold scopes in the past, but always low-mid cost options from them. Found a nikon fx1000 ffp 6-24 on academy's website for a killer deal. Anyone have any experience with it or nikon glass in general? Budget was approx 800 or less. Lost out on a few vortex pst I and II auctions on ebay, before finding this for $599.
thanks

I have one in sfp and it has some very good glass for the money, better than the vortex in that price range imo.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

First off let me say that I have been doing freelance work with Nikon for almost 10 years now but my opinions are based on my experiences and not a sales pitch. I don't do any sales at all. A buddy has a Nikon BLACK X1000 4-16x50MOA on his Valkyrie and loves it. Uses it extensively for coyote hunting and has laid out a bunch. He dials and uses the reticle for drops when a quick shot is needed. He has a youtube channel, AlphaDogDown and you can see him using the rifle and scope in action. I have been using the BLACK FX1000 scopes on 2 6.5cm's. Love em. Great glass for longrange repeatable accuracy. Finding these scopes on sale is just a bonus. The 2 times I have been to a big box retailer near me to look around they were sold out. I know some on-line retailers are giving discounts if you call them and ask. Good luck and I hope you'll post some pics when you get yours?

My brother in law just got the FX 4-16. So far it looks pretty good and the turrets feel good enough. I've got a PST2 3-15 and the turrets are nicer than the Nikon but the glass seems close enough for the price difference. Take a look at Sport Optics. They normally have a discount code that may beat the price you found. Plus they're out of LA, so order one day have the scope the next. https://www.sportoptics.com/nikon-black-front-focal-rifle-scopes.aspx

I have 2, and they're a good no frills scope for the money. I have one (don't need both) I'm probably going to post up for sale soon

Buddy has one on his .224 Valkyrie. Really good glass but his doesn’t have a zero stop so it’s a no go for me.
