I handload. I prefer 308. FOR ME the choice would come down to one less bullet to keep up with. I already load .308 pills in 300 blackout, 300 mag, 30-30 (yeah I know) and 30-06. I do not load anything in 6.5, so for me it would mean I would have to keep a box of bullets, and likely a different powder just for the 6.5. Seems like I can find a ton of uses for a 150-180gr 308 bullet and H4895 powder. Just my opinion.
Jason If your using H4895 in your 300 magnum, you are not even close to realizing the potential of that cartridge. 30-06 will also do better with slower burning powders. \ I do not, I do use it in 308 and 30-06 and it works well. Lots of people go for pure speed, I have found that sometimes thats not the most accurate way to go. For 180gr 30-06 H4895 seems to work as well as anything else I have tried and its as good as I have found yet for 168 BTHP's in my 308. I understand varget would work well for that 308 load but I have found that my rifle does not like more speed and varget REALLY likes to be loaded closer to max. Not to mention I use my varget for 69gr SMK's in 223 and as high as its gotten I better save it for that! What about those new induron powders? Tried them? Very Versitile? Jason

Jason I use R15 in my 308 and I don't push it fast either. I have 2 300 win mags and one has always preferred H4831 over all powders, and use IMR4350 in the other. Also have a 300 H&H and 300 Weatherby Magnum and R22 works well for those. I have a 30-06 and have used IMR4350 and IMR 4831 but I don't shoot that gun often. I think in the 06 you can get more speed and accuracy with 180 gr bullets with slower powders than H4895. Only enduron powder I've tried is IMR7977, and I think it will be a winner. I just need to get my 264 win mag back from the gunsmith to work on some loads. The enduron powders look good, but they are a premium price to get the same performance as others already available. They overlap many powders in Hodgdons powder line. They were brought to market due to European environmental regulations which t h e hodgdon powders did not comply with so hodgdon could sell these in Europe.

.308 for deer hunting 6.5 creed if i want to shoot out past 500 at paper. i dont see much difference between the two under 500 everbody wants a 1000 yard rifle and 90% cant keep a tight group at 100. your trading bullet weight for speed either way they play out about the same within the ranges 99% of us are gonna be shooting

I have never tried and of the RL line of powders. I load some 300 win mag for my bro in law and I honestly cant remember what powder I used. Its written in my log book, I will check next time I am down there. I dont personally shoot an 06 but I load some for a couple friends and they have good results with the loads I made with H4895-- much better than with off the shelf core-lokt.. What do you use in your 300 H&H? I have both 4350 and 4831, have not loaded for it yet as I do NOT shoot it very often at all. I am a fan of buying in bulk, if I could find one powder that does well in more than one caliber I shoot then thats what I use. I imagine there are loads out there with a TON of different powders that will work as well or maybe even better than what I am doing but I haven't found anything else thats more versatile that will. If that ends up being the enduron then that would be fine. Even at a premium price, if I buy by the keg it can still be worthwhile. Jason

For my needs the most versatile powder is H4350. Works well in typical 270/30-06 cartridges and can work well with most belted magnums in light to mid weight bullets. Works good in most 308 based cartridges, but is a little too slow burning for the 308 except for heavy bulkets and is too slow for the 338 federal. Great powder for 260 and 6.5 creedmoor. Will get top velocity with 300 gr bullets in 375 H&H magnum.
I buy it in 8 lb jugs and use it in several rifles 257 Roberts, 7X57, 300 win mag, 338 win mag. The store where I buy my powder tells me its one of their best sellers and have a hard time keeping it stocked. I keep a wide assortment of powders on hand, but if I had to choose just one, H4350 would be it.
