Almost. She was 10 yards away with here head down facing me. Shot further back than I intended. My sight was set on 20 and I probably didn’t bend at the waist quite enough. Luckily I hit far enough back and stayed out of the shoulder blade. Luckily there wasn’t a cutover for her to hit. My arrow poked through her underside, but she didn’t bleed from that hole. I was kicking myself for taking that shot afterwards. That Rage Trypan tore her ass up on the inside.

Congrats, Sonny!!!

I’m in a ladder stand on our biggest field this afternoon. My wife is set up about 250 yds from me. I’m hoping she can connect on her first bow kill...my view:

I stuck a doe about 4:05 and I thought I heart shot her. She ran 75 yds and just stood still in the green field for 15 minutes. I could see lots of blood on my arrow and blood running down her leg, but she never went down. Finally, she got broadside and I could see the hole: 3” behind her armpit and heart height (low). She finally eased off into the woods...what are your thoughts? Apparently, I missed the heart and was too low to hit lungs ?

About the same for me. Eleven hunts...2 deer seen.

Don’t feel bad. Some places just suck during early season. I saw my first deer today after 6 sits. It was exactly the same last year and the year before here and i know as soon as all the leaves fall off the trees there will be deer everywhere. I didn’t kill a deer last year until about dec 3rd

Likely gonna bed up close by.....give her until late tonight and look for her. If your not afraid of yotes getting her then go in first thing in the morning. Suppose to be pretty cold tonight again I believe.

We waited 4 hours after the shot and went in with a dog. Blood was very minimal once we left the field. But, the dog was able to stay on it and jumped the deer about 30 minutes after we’d started...we backed out, even though she’d opened up and started bleeding better after being jumped. We’re going back in today with the dog again. I think she’ll be dead

We took the dog back in about 11:30 today and he went right to my doe!! I still don’t understand how I hit gut on this shot or how she traveled 600 total yards!! Deer never cease to amaze me; they’re so dang tough!!

Congrats Brian. She was quartered to you when the arrow got there. Your entry hole is actually flirtting with being too far back anyway. Perfectly broadside would have probably been a straight up liver shot.

Yep, she was quartered to me and I never realized it...this was one of those that was pure instinct. From the time I saw her til I shot couldn’t have been more than 20 seconds. I had to draw and shoot quick (kind of in one motion), but I practice that shot at home...I released, watched my nock hit her, and just knew she was heart shot. I was in udder shock when my arrow was covered with green crap
