Knowing that they will leave your family too soon is always the hardest part of having a dog. He looks like he was a great and loving dog. Sorry for your loss.

Always a rough time.I've found it best to find a replacement fairly quick.There's nothing a new puppy won't help... Nah, it's gonna be a while. We still have a mini dachshund and an outside cat, so that's plenty for now. It'll be a looooong time before I get another dog. Just a lot of work and a hassle anytime you have something to do or somewhere to go...and with a 7yo and 5yo, there's always something to do or somewhere to go.

For the longest I looked at how people treated dogs like family & thought they were nuts. I guess it's because we grew up in the sticks and had outside dogs that just kind hung out, but never did much else but feed them daily & let them roam. Now that I have a mutt that lives here and truly thinks she belongs inside with the family at all hours of the day, I can't imagine what it'll be like when its time for her to go.
