There are multiple parts to this.
1. The founding fathers never intended for the 14th to be used as a path to citizenship. Enshrining the right of paath to citizenship was NOT the purpose of the 14th. The main purpose of the 14th is stated in the latter half of the amendment. It is to clarify and prevent laws being passed by the states or other municipalities that would deprive a citizen of "privileges or immunities" that are granted to all U.S. Citizens. (oh wait concealed carry reciprocity anyone?)
2. Trump is not stupid. He knows a executive order will not stand in court. It is a bluff and a good one, to slow down the mobs who wish to steamroll across the border and demand rights in country that is not theirs. He is pulling out all the stops to slow them down physically with the troops and mentally by make statements such as this. You have to take away all their hope as they march toward the border.
3. It is ironic that Kavanuagh who the left hate, would likely stand against trump's executive order.
The founding fathers didn't have shucks to do with the 14th amendment. So, they didn't have any intent? The 14th Amendment wasn't passed until long after all the founding fathers were dead.
