Based on what you have told us You don’t have to make an opinion based solely on what she said. The transcripts are posted.

I just spent over an hour rereading this thread. It was a good one for sure. I don't have the time today to devote to reading this one, and it was before my time.....I read the first 2 pages but that's about it. Can you provide a recap for those of us that missed it?

I don't have the time today to devote to reading this one, and it was before my time.....I read the first 2 pages but that's about it. Can you provide a recap for those of us that missed it? As i remember, a rogue retired game warden and a rogue judge from Lowndes county ran two juveniles through the ringer with no proof of a crime whatsoever. Mom got involved and supported the boys, went further in the legal system and it was dismissed. The rogue judge was a member here and likely still reads. He was trying to justify his opinion on here, and that was just it......his opinion, nothing to do with evidence or law. Not sure if they were buddies or not, can't remember. And this is one of thousands that happen all the time and why Doekiller is so adamant that everyone doesn't jump to conclusions on their opinion of a matter. It's bad enough that it gets tried on talk forums, and in the media, but then you have judge's that make egregious rulings.

I hadn't read anything on this for like 3 years.
So since 2015, what has happened with Judge "Augustus" Johnson and Judge Bozeman and ole retiree Rusty the former GW? Any traction on getting anything done? Any civil case or settlements on anything? I was running a server update so I had time to read all 32 pages again today.

I posted the other day about this thread. I’ll say the same thing I did then. For whatever reason I find this the most interesting thread on ALDeer. Definitely not the funniest one but it is compelling.

Definitely a classic thread. I've wondered if ol agustus ever followed this thread early on while the case was still active.

But dayum you would think that the way everybody was pointing out all of the holes in the case he would've thought "maybe this is all screwed up".

Easier to just quietly go away than admit you screwed up. Plus at some point he realized there were probably some kind of judicial canons about commenting on a case that is likely to be appealed, not to mention the potential civil liability his buddy could face.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

He had nothing to gain from posting. The reality is the law/precedent SUCKED. He had to follow precedent. His mistake was saying something like 'I'm convinced one of them shot out of the window' when that wasn't really necessary under the then-current precedent. It just invited distrust and discourse and made him seem kinda small. Thank heavens the AL Supreme Court fixed that crappy Rogers case and made it no longer the law of the land.

[Cynical] "The reality is the law/precedent SUCKED. He had to follow precedent."]
Bs. He did NOT "have to follow precedent" - either for purposes of ruling that the prosecution made out a prima facie case of the crimes charged, and certainly not on the subject of reasonable doubt and not guilty vs. guilty.
He came on here and admitted/stated that he essentially knew this had nothing to do with night hunting and AT MOST one of the young fellows peeled a shot off at the stop sign.
A smart and wise judge will simply ignore totally bs "precedent" and do the right thing for the sake of fundamental justice and to protect the Constitution and people's constitutional rights. It could have been handled totally differently from the beginning, and the prosecutor on the case bears some responsibility on this also.
