Mystery Ranch Mule pack... I got this pack to be able to pack out elk qtrs first trip instead of putting useless miles on my legs if I killed an elk to get a frame pack. It wore well loaded for hunting even with bow strapped on.Today, I got to test the pack with some real meat. They're expensive but, compared to EXO and Kifaru, not so much...

PROS- comfortable, light, and just the right size for day hunts or an overnighter.
Easy to load meat
Wears easily when loaded
Rated to handle 200#

CONS- would like a little more airflow in the back during hot days

Loaded today with 2 elk front qtrs. (Cow)

I got a pair of Danner High Ground boots part way into the season (non-insulated)

The boots were light, waterproof, and comfy.
They required no break-in time and I wore them from the get-go.

My only CON- traction could be better on wet limbs/wet logs/muddy hill sides.

Well done reviews! If you wanted to, you could send me a chunk of one of those big backstraps from that cow elk for me to review! Haha jk but I’ve always wanted to try one soooo bad! I’d like to hunt elk one day but mountain goat is on the top of my list.

I always say I'm going to upgrade my pack, but my old badlands 2200 is a great day pack and I can get an elk quarter and a skull out first trip. Packed a whole deer out with it last year. Not sure I'll do that again, nothing against the pack, more a statement of my abilities.

Boots were fine on the hills here, not hunting mountains. If I was hunting really steep stuff I'd say not stiff enough.


The pack was so comfy, I'm not sure I'd swap to a frame after the first trip the way it wore. I'll know next year when I poke a bull and pack a couple miles in it loaded down. It was so nice today, I'm gonna buy my son one for next year, prolly in may. The cool part about the pack is they're sized.

KUIU Peloton 200 Zip-T Hoodie
This is one of my all time favorite pieces. It's light and VERY comfortable. I like to throw it on in Sept when we get a stiff wind, especially sitting around glassing.
Most clothing articles other than pants and shirts, I usually only have 1 of each. I have 2 of these hoodies. I think I'll get a Peleton 97 before next season.
