I agree, I like to climb 17-20 feet and be behind the tree when deer approach. Unless I am on a field, in that case at least 25' high. I have cut branches from around my stand and brush myself in during early season when the tree canopy in thick woods prevents you from climbing very high. I shot 2 bucks last year in bow season, 1 from 8 feet high the other about 15 feet high. Both cases I climbed as high as the tree would let me and had good cover and shot the deer at 20 yards and 13 yards respectively.
