Ended up going last night. Lots of fun. Food was good. Service was good. Fun atmosphere. As warned, not cheap for a party of 2, but worth it given the experience. For those that play real golf...what's a typical drive distance for amateur golfers? Depends on the person. I’ve seen an amateur hit it 220, and I’ve seen one hit it 320. Also I think the balls and or clubs are deadened. I suck at golf so I dont know what I could hit on average but a few really good golfers I've went with said they could drive on average further than what they did at top golf. Can you not take your own clubs?
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I've wanted to go and plan to put it's expensive. You're lady field may be into that though. You played baseball, you could have a dang good golf swing pretty fast if you got some good lessons. Most baseball players new to golf struggle. It's because bb player rotate their hips and golfers slide their hips. Most bb players transition to really good slice golfers
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

The balls at top golf have sensors in them, and are deadened, along with the clubs not being the best.

The balls are different than normal golf balls. They have a micro chip in them so the interactive games can track them. Not sure of all the science behind it but they definitely have something in them that doesn’t allow them to fly as far. The longest hole location at Top Golf is only about 200 yards. Most average golfers wouldn’t even use a driver to hit that one if they were normal balls.

For those that play real golf...what's a typical drive distance for amateur golfers? I'd say 235 to 275. However, Top golf distances are not accurate and are to make you feel good. My son is well above an average golfer. He drives it a LONG way. Averages 350 to 375. He has his short clubs dialed in tight and when we went he quickly discovered the distances were not correct.

Averages 350 to 375? I’m not saying that’s impossible, but the PGA tour’s longest hitter only averages 320. The world long drive champ is usually only around 380-400.

The pros aren't pros because they are long drive champions. They are pros because they are accurate. There are plenty of guys who consistently hit the ball much farther than tour averages and the gutters of failure on the PGA tour are littered with long drive guys who lack some other part of the game. Long DriveAll I can say is go play with him. Sometimes seeing is believing. He's 6'5" tall with a HUGE swing arc and he consistently hits driver those distances. He scores in the mid to low 70's but doesn't love the game enough to compete any longer.

Top golf: You have to get each of you a top golf card (~$5) You rent a bay by the hour. ($ depends on time of day - off hours are a little cheaper) ($25-$45/hr) You can have up to 6 people in a bay playing Food is great. Prices are similar to Outback, Applebees
It is a lot of fun. Cheaper than real golf if you have more that a couple of people.
If you are a golfer bring your driver, and maybe a couple of longer irons (I wouldn't carry my whole bag). Their clubs are crap. Shafts are very sloppy. We just bring a driver and use their irons.
