At one time Springfield used frames from Brazil(Taurus?) Not sure if that's still the case or not but if I'm buying a 1911 it is going to made exclusively in the US or go for cheap like RIA. Yeah but it's my understanding they were made by two totally different manufacturers. IMBEL of Brazil made the forged Springer frame. I THINK, Taurus makes their frames in house. Kinda like the Philippine 1911's. You have ARMSCOR who makes the good ones like the RIA's , Twin Pines , STI Spartan, Cimarron, Auto Ordinance, and Charles Daley 1911s and then there is the other bunch, Metro Arms Corporation who makes the junk know as the American Classic and Firestorm 1911s.
There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!
