I love the boat, and it's a cool project, but you may hit a road block with that old Volvo out drive. I don't think they're easy to find parts for or find people to work in them. I would do some checking before you start dropping a lot of money.

I don't think it is hurt that bad, it was mainly the prop that hit the stump, i will admit I know next to nothing about working on a out drive.. could I just switch it out with a different make out drive?

No. There would be a lot of work involved, including refiberglassing the back of the boat.

You haven't owned a whole lot of boats before have you...

I'm not sure it is collectible either, but I'm not going to look into that for you. Just because it's old doesn't mean there are a lot of people looking for this boat. There are boat junkyards full of boats like this nobody wants. It ain't a 1973 Ford Bronco. I would verify there is a market before I figured I was going to make money on it. This was a kit boat. I guess built by Vulcan Boatworks whoever that was.

Interesting. Did you checkout screamandfly or boatdesign forums?

That's what I'm thinking!
Evidently he hasn't heard about the two best days in a boat owner's life!

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

It is collectable it was made by Thunderbird and sold by Birmingham boat works, it should sell for around 5 grand as it sits as far as I can tell, if not I will have a cool boat to ride around in, I have had a few boats over the years, this is the first inboard/outboard I have had, heck if nothing else it will give me something to piddle with..

I wouldn't modify that boat. (Like adding fishing seats, etc...) I would just clean it up, polish everything up, get the mechanics on it sound and either enjoy it or sell it as a collectable.

You say it's a "collectable" yet you're gonna hack it up with seats and trolling motor? Genius.

My Dad worked for a short time back in the sixties at Vulcan Boat Works as a mechanic. They were located on Green Springs Hwy.

Probably so. But it would only haul 3 or 4 of them. Probably just 1 if it was one of PerchJerkers wemmins.
