In Saraland with my GF (now wife) at her friends house. I had just woken up in time to catch the plane hit the second tower live, at first I thought it was a movie or something, then quickly realized it was not. So i woke my GF and told her to call her Mother, because she and her husband and his brother and wife was in the area doing ironworks. But thankfully they were okay....

Had just got to work and turned on the TV and could not believe what I was seeing. Spent the next few days in raged and try to reflect on my life

Pulling in to work when the news came over the radio. I went in to my office and cut the TV on and saw the second plane hit live. I was still watching when they collapsed.

I was at Corp HQ in Birmingham, in the emergency operation center, preparing for a possible blackout on the east coast.

I was at the courthouse in downtown Mobile for court. After the attacks, I was sent to Brookley Feild to sit at the air traffic control tower for the rest of my shift..

I’d just walked through the sallyport through the back door of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. There was always a TV on in dispatch. Paul Evans was an investigator and we stood there watching. The second plane hit just a few minutes after I got there. Paul looked at me and said “Every asshole in the FBI just puckered up.”
Buddy of mine, retired military, was hunting elk in Colorado. He knew something was up before he got out of the woods. He said the sky was full of planes, then it went silent. He told his friends, “Let’s go find a radio and see who we’re at war with.”

I was a junior in high school, sitting in history class

Was at the office in downtown Birmingham. Heard about the first plane hitting and was watching a tv with other people at the VP's assistant desk when the 2nd plane hit. I traveled a lot and had recently watched a show about the first WTC attack in a hotel room not long before. After getting over the shock of the second hit, I just said "Osama bin Laden" . I don't think anyone knew who I was talking about at that moment.

I thought that day and I still believe it today. We should have nuked Afghanistan off the face of the earth after 9/11. Teach them we don't phuck around when we are attacked and if you give comfort to terrorists you will join them in death. Instead, we ended up in a political quaqmire with thousands more soldiers lives sacrificed and nothing gained.

I was sitting at the light at the top of the mountain in Vestavia. Mark Prater was talking to Rick and Bubba and made a comment that a plane had flown into one of the towers. I got to work in time to see the second plane hit.

I lost a friend who was a New York Firefighter/EMT.

He didn't die that day, but a couple years later. He was on scene that day, and talking with him about it, was just eerie. He was a big tough Italian guy. He told me the sounds of the bodies hitting the ground brought him to tears.

The debris he breathed in that day eventually killed him. His Son called me when he passed. He was a good man.

In Auburn, still in bed nursing a hangover wishing I didn't have to go into work that day. Cousin calls me to tell about 1st plane which my response was to cuss him out, dumbass has hit the tower before with a plane no big deal just an accident. He convinces me to get out of bed and tune in and I had just turned tv on to see 2nd plane hit. Very sobering moment. It felt like the world really did stop turning at that moment. 2001 was a horrible year for me. 1 friend died of an overdose, 2 of my best friends died in separate drunk driving accidents and a 4th close friend was kidnapped and murdered from my place of work. 9/11 happened then on Christmas Eve my brother in law died when his spleen ruptured from mono complications. I've never wanted a year to end so bad in my entire life.

I had just walked into Juniors Barber shop in Hueytown right after the first plane hit. We were watching and thinking what kind of a accident when the 2nd plane hit and we all fell silent. I'll never forget how wierd it felt to know not a single plane was in the sky. I got to work in time to see the towers start to fall and thought that this simply can't be real.

I was working as a multicraft maintenance electrician at the airport in Huntsville. Just walked into the break room and they were showing the first tower burning. Then we saw the second one hit. Security got real tight, real fast - even in Huntsville, AL.
