True, goodman. They use cheap labor overseas like many companies and then rake in profits here (and worldwide, for some companies).
Whenever anyone brings up the labor practices of Nike, Apple, others, the majority of the public ignores it. They don't give two chits about kids in Thailand making their shoes or Chinese women making their phone as long as they can get the products. Out of sight, out of mind.
Unfortunately, that is the truth For most of America today. Selfish and more concerned with consumption of material goods than how those goods arrive on our shores. Its why we will soon be seeing Christmas sales in September.

It's also why if presented an American-made whatsit that costs $35 and a Chinese-made whatsit that costs $21.99, the majority of Americans will choose the latter.

Has anyone posted an Aaron Tippin video yet? I'm not going to look back through 19 pages.
Most of y'all will be in Field and Stream store buying some hunting gadget before the end of next month too.
This ain't gonna hurt Nike for long. Republicans don't protest anything for more than a couple minutes then their wallet takes back over.

i read the other day, basically said. Nike pays chinese women 20 cents an hour for 70-80 weeks to make shoes. Turns around and uses its profits to pay a millionaire, millions of dollars. To preach to me about social injustice. How ironic. To put another sinister spin on this, their human rights violations may be the exact reason they hired CK. The hero of the whiny, BLM loving, mainstream progressive culture gets them a "pass" in a situation where the media develops some desire to report revelations on cheap foreign labor in the future. The combustible media state we live in these days sees those individuals driving agendas reach not just reporting, but social media fame. i.e. #metoo

I don't think the video has been posted, but he's been quoted a few times......which brings up an interesting thought... I don't think "standing for something" and "falling for anything" are mutually exclusive. It seems that one could potentially stand for something and still fall for anything.

Let's just put it this way.... maybe Bernie is right on a couple things. He's wrong on the other 99% but these companies give money to the liberals because the real liberals are the old rich white guys. They are the real elite. They are the real democratic party. It ain't the African Americans , it ain' the Latinos, it ain't the poor. They've just been hoodwinked into thinking these old rich white guys that run companies like Nike have their best interest at hand. It is all about uniting special interests. They are dam good at it.
The Dems.... They are "The Man". They are the ones keeping their own voters "down". Not those of us that work hard for a living. I need them to help me get this country back on track. I'm not keeping anyone down. I want them right beside me working, voting and helping us rebuild this country.
The real reason everyone is hurting is there are no jobs but this is a tangled web. People like Nike or McDonalds don't pay anyone to produce their products then turn around and expect us to support them via some social programs. Bernie got into this recently. Don't dismiss the argument just because Bernie said it. He might be on to something. In a lot of cases the rich guys at the top walk with all the money. This isn't only the executives but across the board upper management, wall street types, big bankers, etc. They've all got their hands in the cookie jar. They've got their hand in everyone in the United States retirement accounts. They've got their hand in so many aspects of our lives it is unfathomable. We just don't recognize it because it is the norm. They take, take and take from those of us who work hard for a living.
I don't think the minorities will ever get on board with this in my lifetime but if they eventually realize what's going on these liberals are going to be in serious trouble. But it will take a change in culture. I'll be dead likely before that happens. I thought we were getting close but then Obama gets in office and next thing you know Racism is out front once again dividing our country.
It is a complex and interesting web of lies.
I will agree with those that posted before me... this is only a speck of sand when it comes to this country's real problems.
But I won't buy anything else Nike makes I've gotten along just fine without Nike chit for years. I don't even know if I own any Nike "gear" I just get the cheap off brand stuff that's also made in China by 8 year old kids.

There was a democrap congressman from Kalifornistan on Tucker Carlson last night talking about this. The largest companies are using the socialist welfare state to subsidize the low pay of their workforce. This is not by accident. This guy wants to tax companies like Amazon who do this. Sounds good, right? WRONG. The problem is the existence of the welfare state that allows them to do this. The workers would not be taking these jobs if they knew they could not subsidize the low pay with government benefits.

They are owned by Dicks Sporting Goods and took their same stance on Black Rifles and High Capacity Magazines.

Exactly - if there were no subsidies people handing fries out the window for $9 and hour... they'd have a rough go of it. I don't know how people live off those kind of earnings. I recognize they are handing fries out the window but geez.
Everyone jumped down my throat when Aunt Bee was struttin like a rooster over claiming to have something to do with Amazon coming to Bessemer where the average wage will be $14 an hour. That means the average working is going to earn a lot less than $14 an hour. Of course that is better than $8 an hour. That is obvious. How many of those workers are going to be part time? How good are their benefits?
The point is you ain't living high on the hog making $11 an hour either.
Who's going to subsidize that pay gap.... we are. We are already doing it because there are no jobs in Bessemer to begin with. I recognize that and any job is better than zero jobs. It is a win from that point of view. But how much of a win is it really? That's a good question that I am glad people are discussing.
The pay gap is real and is HUGE right now in this country. Especially when you are talking about increased prices. A 20oz drink at the store cost you $2 around here. Use to be .75 cents 20 years ago. However wages haven't doubled. I believe minimum back them was about $7 something.
