I think it's funny how people are saying Nike is going to "lose half its value" or "go out of business" or whatever. They're going to have a dip and then keep chugging along. They don't give a chit about anyone saying "boycott" and it won't hurt them in the long run.
Yep. They are too big and established. However, Dick's Sporting Goods reportedly took another hit in quarterly earnings that was acknowledged (again) by the CEO. That would be the second straight quarter and coming in the spring-summer "stick and ball/running/soccer/ sports" period. Now they're getting into autumn and winter when, presumably, the hunting market helps with purchases of guns, ammo, apparel and such either at DGS or F&S Shops. So maybe in the case of DGS the folks staying away have indeed made a difference. If so, good. Keep it up. I don't believe the same will happen with Nike but maybe it will. They're worldwide, though, unlike DGS/F&SS.

They're worldwide, though, unlike DGS/F&SS. Correct. Consumers can make a difference with Dicks Sporting Goods... especially when they alienated 90% of their target demographic. Nike did 9.8 billion in the 4'th quarter of their fiscal year alone and Dicks did roughly 1.8 billion. Nike's target audience is kids who don't give a rip about social / political statements and especially inner city kids who subscribe to the same anti police sentiment as their new spokesman. They will take a small hit from the soccer mom and patriotic faction of their customer base but it will be a drop in the ocean to them.

Here's where Nike could feel a hit, though - at the collegiate level where universities have apparel contracts with them.
Big Bob Booster and Patriotic Pete Booster along with the fan base says, "Hey, BigSkool University, if you don't cut ties with Nike we're going to trim back donations."
Probably won't happen. But it'll be interesting to see if any of the affiliated universities do that or attempt to.

except Nike/UnderArmor/Adidas give way more than Bob and Pete do. Alabama's current deal with Nike through 2025 is actually kindof crappy, and is still $5,250,000 a year, and a $5M signing bonus. UCLA and Under Armour have $280M/15 years. Nike has deals with Ohio State for $252M and Texas for $250M.

Great point, but like you I doubt that would happen. Most of those big money boosters would lynch their mother if they thought it would help their football program of choice. I doubt we see anyone upset the apple cart like that.

I love Nike brand and will still buy them no matter what the heck anyone does 😁. That's ironic because Nike kills more snakes than all the fellas on this forum combined. #SLM www.snakelivesmatter.org![[Linked Image]](https://s8.postimg.cc/6zoppgyfp/IMG_4539.jpg) photos uploaded

Wait ... wait ... wait ...
Alabama has a deal with Nike, the current evil anti-American company?
Are all the Bama fans going to get rid of their shirts and caps and pullovers and jackets and shoes? Because if you're going to boycott then you have to do that, right?
Or will this be one of those "I already paid for it it but ..." or "It was a gift and I can't hurt their feelings." situations?

This country is supposed to be founded on freedom to worship, believe and live the way you want to without persecution from others but instead the whole country gets in these uproars and so many persecute people for exercising the very rights this country is founded on. If someone isn't respecting the flag or country as you see fit and they aren't harming anyone then just go on about your life respecting the flag and this country as you see fit. Boycott all ya'll want, I love Nike brand and will still buy them no matter what the heck anyone does 😁 There are much bigger worries in this world than if what's his face is standing or kneeling... I want a divorce. Don't love you anymore.

He wanted to try to be president more than sticking up for family.

Luckily I don't own anything Nike. I wear New Balance shoes and cowboy boots mostly. Other than fishing in crocs on occasion. My kids have all kinds of Nike crap though. I just give them money and they buy their own clothes so my wife and I don't have to listen to the crying and whining.

As long as a company isn't promoting something/someone trying to take rights away from the people rather than someone just peacefully exercising they're own rights (regardless if I agree or not) I will still be a fan of any product I already love.

Just saw some interesting numbers:
Two-thirds of Nike's customers are 35 years old or younger.
Fifty-four percent of Americans under the age of 35 approve of kneeling during the national anthem.
Nike's exposure in measured dollars since the announcement of the new campaign with Kapernick has been worth approximately $47 million. That's exposure of their name, logos, links, etc., on social media and news media. Most has been neutral to positive, with the "Nike sucks!" portion barely registering a blip except among their own.
Nike will take all that and chug right along. They're big, worldwide and don't care about those who are pissed about Kapernick being part of the campaign.

Their stock value is falling according to Reuters. It's going to end the day about $2.50 (3%) down. They release quarterly earnings on 9/25. Those numbers are probably going to be good, given the timing of the release of the ad campaign. At that point, the stock price is probably going to go up. If you can get past the ad campaign, the next couple of days will be a good time to buy the stock.
