I'll catch some flak for it but I've never had a bad meal from Bennett's BBQ. There is one in Gatlinburg and in Pigeon Forge. Get their Brisket.

Can't go wrong with The Old Mill either.

Is the Park Grill still there or did the Gatlinburg fire grill it?

I would say go to the Dixie Stampede but they decided a year or two ago that it was better to be politically correct than to put on a good dinner and show. My Shadow will not darken their doorway ever again.

Years ago The Park Grill was my wife's and my go to place. Great service and food for a decent price plus a great story on the trees they used to build it. If it is still there, try it. It was the last building on the left before entering the park.

Entertainment?........how about the fact that you're right beside the the most visited Natl Park in the country? Also the only one with no admission fee. We've been going 2 -3 times a year since I was born, and we spend virtually every daylight minute in the park, and I still have only scratched the surface. Ditch all the touristy crap and get in the park. Go explore.

As far as food.......Log Cabin Pancake House, up Airport Rd in Gatlinburg, is dominant for breakfast. Soooooo much better than Pancake Pantry (More overrated than Dan Mullen). As much time as we spend there - almost like a 2nd home - don't really have any really great dinner recommendations...I mean you can get a good meal there, but it's just not a "food destination".

Agree about the park and outdoors. Planning time for Caves Cove, Wears Valley, and wife has never been to Clingmans Dome. Likely one of the horseback tours and have a couple of trail and waterfalls to explore. Only show we want to attend is the Country Opry.

I don't know how much experience you have with the park, so forgive me if you are super-familiar already......Clingman's Dome is cool, but check the weather conditions before you make the hike up. We did it once and got to the top and visibility was like 10ft. It's paved all the way to the top, but it's steep in places and it's usually really crowded.

You can get almost as good a view from the parking area around Newfound Gap.

Laurel Falls is a fun hike. It's not especially difficult (you'll see plenty of elderly people and small kids doing it, if that tells you anything) but it's not paved, so you get more of the "hiking experience" with a pretty waterfall at the end.

Go over to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center just before Cherokee....there's a big pasture next to it and Elk frequent that area, as well as some of the other clearings along that road.

The Peddler is a great restaurant.

I would have lost money betting on the Grand Canyon to have more visitors.

GSMNP had 11 million visitors in 2017. GCNP is #2, at just over 6 million.....so yeah, not even close.

I like Paula Deen’s better than the Old Mill. May be just me.
Touristy attractions the teenage kids like have included Titanic and Hollywood Wax Museum.
There are some pretty good indoor bumper cars over at the Island and the Ferris wheel is a good one.
We enjoy the Smoky Mtn Shine tasting.

Was up there last month. We spent some time doing some day hikes. Parking at the trail heads was crazy. About a mile in you hardly seen anyone, 4 miles in it was just you and the mountains. It was really nice.

Yeah, I like the place really well but I haven't been on that end of town since the fire.
