My son is a brand new teenage driver. And he’s driving a 4-Runner he’s only had a couple weeks.
He and I are both currently seeing the chiropractor for some back problens from getting rear-ended in that wreck back in January.
So I'm working my ass off, killing myself on deadline Friday afternoon.
My son calls, panic in his voice.
"Dad, you got to get to the chiropractor's office RIGHT NOW!" he said. "The back f****** window fell out of my truck." He hangs up.
Oh, shucks, I think, picturing it laying half in and out of the back of the 4-Runner.
I get there and he says "It's just gone, Dad. There's no broken glass or anything. It's just gone."
I eyeball the situation just a second.
"Uhh, son, you know this back glass rolls up and down, don't you?"
"No, it don't."
"Get in. See if you can find a button."
He did and he did.
He'd accidentally rolled it down fiddling with the radio.
I love this little guy and it reminded me of some of the dumbass stuff I did when I was a kid.
I was stressed out and he put a big ol’ smile on my face.
“Killing tomorrow’s trophies today.”
On the distance I like to walk to my stands:
“The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

Well, the f-word is his favorite cuss word.
I don’t know if you’ve sat in a high school parking lot with the window rolled down lately. It’s not just him.
We talk about language a good bit. He’s a pretty good kid otherwise and I don’t get too worked up about it.
If the word had never parted my lips maybe it would be different.
His sister can cuss him under the table. She’s 19 now. We tell her princesses ought not be talking like that.
If the worst they do is cuss I’ll be okay. One of my son’s classmates comes home drinking. His Mother at her wit’s end.

Man, has the world changed.
When I was 16, if I would have called my dad, used the f-word, demanded he come to me over something like that, the resulting reaction would have been (and probably still be) a total blur. Not criticizing op or his son, just dont understand how society got to this point.
