Just wondering what people's opinion are of the BFGoodrich KO all terrain tires. I am needing a new set of tires for my 2006 dodge 2500 4x4 SRW and the size is 315/70 R17. I talked to a guy at one of the tire shops and he said he wouldn't give a nickel for a whole set of them because he had 2 of them on 2 different occasions come apart on him going down the road. When he told me this I thought to myself I sure have seen a ton of people running these tires for them to be doing that but didn't question him since I have no personal experience with them. The other tires that I am considering are the firestone Destination AT, nitto terra grappler and Cooper AT3. Any opinions or experiences on the other mentioned tires would be appreciated. Thanks

I have always loved bfgs and never had any problems with them. On my new truck they talked me into coopers and I absolutely hate em. After I wear these out back to bfgs I go.

Destination At is a great tire on a half ton pickup, but not really good on a 3/4.

I've had decent service with the Bridgestone Dueler, and am currently running the Toyo Open Country. Great traction, quiet, just remains to be seen how well they will last.

The Bridgestone Dueler Revo is what is on my truck now and that's what I wanted to go back with but the Revo 2 like I have is no longer made and has been replaced by the Revo 3. I looked at the Revo 3 and they totally changed the tread pattern and they look terrible to me and the price also went up about $300 a set.

Tire shop by our office says the same thing about the BFG’s. Given the problems I’ve heard and the ridiculous price compared to comparable brands, no way I would run them. They look great though, and kids buy them............

the at3 don't have very good traction in the mud. i have the toyo rts my second set pretty good traction and not bad riding on the highway and not too noisy.

Just replaced my bfg ko's after 6 years. No flats no complaints. Two tires did start to separate hence the reason I got new shoes. In my experience, after 5 to 6 years tires that are loaded heavy tend to break down and separate. Exception may be a commercial grade street tread tire that's practically solid rubber.

I put on cooper at3's in June. No complaints yet. However, the coopers seem to squat more under load. Sidewalls are not as heavy as the BFGs. These tires are on a dodge drw 4wd. It's a heavy truck and likes to eat AT tread tires for breakfast. Tires are always a tradeoff between traction vs wearlife. I purchase based on what I'm gonna use the truck for 90% of the time.

Had Bridgestone duelers on a tundra great tire. Good traction and wear with appropriate balance and rotation.

Don’t get Coopers, lousy traction.

I run them on every truck since 1998. NEVER got less than 80k and 100plus on several. Got over 100 on my current truck now. I run a tire warehouse and distribute all over the south and the KO’2 is the best mover. I have friends that are direct with Nitto and they buy BFG’s from me for they’re personal trucks. We move a lot of Nittos too but I don’t care for them.

For all the people having separation problems I have to wonder how well they keep them aired up to full pressure. Stiff sidewall tires don't tend to appear low as soon as a tire with softer sidewalls. Shrug. Who knows.

The cooper at3 are definitely less aggressive than the ko.

Thanks for all the input I appreciate it. The best tires I have ever owned was a set of the toyo open county AT. I checked on getting pricing for them and the guy told me that they are not available in the size I need but the nitto was and they were made by the same company.

I used to run BFGs. But the last set I had wasn’t worth a flip. I had a set of AT3s on my truck that didn’t last 30,000 miles. But, I’ve had a set on my wife’s Yukon for close to 60,000 miles and they are just now needing to be replaced.

I have Nitto Trail Grappler MTs on my old truck and they have been great tires and have have lasted a lot longer then I expected from a mud tire. I have Terra Grapplers on my new truck. They only have 3,000 miles but I like them so far.

I ran the KM2 mud terrain on my dually for years.
Got more than 60,000 miles out of each set and never had a flat.

I have BFG KM 2s on my personal truck that are great. I had Nitto Trail Grappler MT's on it prior and they lasted 55k miles before I got new ones. They would have last longer but that would have put me buying a set of MT's around the end of turkey season so I just went ahead and got them last fall so I could at least put them to use. I have KO2's on my work truck. They pull well for AT's but in my opinion are loud for an AT tire. If I was buying I'd get Toyo AT's personally.

I'm running the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. The traction is great on/off road and the road noise is minimal
