Cooper ST Max’s have plenty of traction, and are gonna outlast anything BFG or Goodyear, IME over the last 20 years with various coopers. Toyo and Yokohama seem to wear well, also. I always thought BFG ATs were way overrated on traction on and off road, as well as wear. There’s lots of decent tires out there these days. I put some mile marker Patagonia MTs on my Landcruiser, because I needed a great deal on 5. We will see how they hold up, but I only drive it a few times a week, if that. For a super aggressive or mud tire, quietest on road that I’ve ever driven. 33s.

I have some BFg ko2s all they are good for is slinging rocks. I hate them. They aren’t very good off road either.

there is a lot of good tires out there, even the good tire builders turn out a bad one sometime, I have set of BFGs on my truck, they came on it new in 2008, get the tire you like, don't worry about what this bunch will tell you .

I’ve got the Nitto’s on my truck and have been very happy with them. A couple years ago, I was following a guy into a tract of land that had a nasty muddy hill. He said he would stop at the top of the hill and wait to pull me up it because there was no way the Nitto’s would make it. (Not really sure why he thought that). Anyway, he put it in 4wd and spun the whole way up the hill. I put it in 4 low and never spun a tire. One of the guys in the truck with him got out and filmed it because he just knew I was going to put on a good show getting stuck.
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

The new bfg ko pattern the ko2. Is not lasting like the old pattern did. I don't know if they went with a softer compound or what but a heavy 2500 truck will eat them like candy. Some goes for the nitro terra grapplers in the new version g2. They used to be a could tire might still be on a light truck or SUV. I've personally seen them wear out under 20k miles on a 2001 dodge 4x4 2500. And 35k on a 2001 1500 z71 chevy. I'm running toyos AT2 extreme on my 03 dodge 2500 4x4 and they have been wearing great fairly quite with slight road noise around 75 mph and traction is great on wet roads and in the fields and pasture where it can get muddy.

the at3 don't have very good traction in the mud. i have the toyo rts my second set pretty good traction and not bad riding on the highway and not too noisy. I had Cooper AT3 on my truck for the last 2 years and hated the road noise. Last weekend it was time for new tires and I put Toyo A/T II on her. So far I really like the ride and handling as it is noticeably different than with the AT3 and there's no road noise to speak of.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Their more aggressive then the at2 but not as aggressive as their MT. It's a pretty aggressive tire for an all terrain and still has a 45k mile tread wear warranty.

On my 3rd set of trail grapplers. 50k/55k and 20 so far on current set. I’ve owned them all over the years and will never buy anything else. Little noisy but that’s what a radio is for.

I've got grappler g2's on my dodge, and toyos on my ford. Toyo's ride better than the grapplers, but a ford is a more comfortable ride than dodge.

I’ve had better luck with Cooper AT3’s on my Ram2500 than BFG or Nitto. Didn’t get 30k miles out of the Nittos

I'm on my 3rd set, and I wouldn't buy anything else. I put over 80,000 miles on my first set (2008 Toyota Tacoma), had over 65,000 on the 2nd set (same Tacoma), and I literally NEVER balanced either set after installation. That truck never shook, never pulled, the tires never dipped or cupped, and honestly they weren't very loud on the highway, and both sets could've withstood several more miles. And by golly they look dang good!! I bought a Z71 in May and put a new set on it the same week, got about 7,000 miles on them now and they barely look driven on.
The only critique I have is I'm not wild about the side lugs on the new KO2's. I preferred the cleaner, more "adult" look of the originals.

A jeep with slick tires will go places a jacked up truck, with gumbo mudders, won't. My two door Tahoe will go places my pickups won't go, regardless of tires.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I've been calling around all day today and I thing I've decided on the nitto terra grappler G2. It is the closest thing to the toyo which is what I really wanted but they only make the open country MT in the size I'm needing and I definitely don't want a mud tire. Not sure if it's true or not but one of the tire guys I spoke with while getting prices told me that nitto is a sister company to toyo and toyo makes all of their tires.

I've had em on a Tacoma and a Ram 1500. No complaints whatsoever. BFG's that is.

Those tires came on my Tundra. I have 76,000 miles on them and they have several thousand miles left on the treads. No complaints, no problems. I would buy some again!!!
