Turkey Petter, when I first started hunting I had heard on a hunting show that if you get a gobbler to sound off in the evenings, you should kill him. The first time it happened, I was on public land. I kept hearing the leaves rustling in the direction of the gobble and thought he was coming. It kept getting louder and louder, but I couldn't see him. Turned out it was a Cottonmouth. It came all the way to me. I stood up to shoot it, and the turkey gobbled. I picked up a stick and starting whacking the snake. The turkey kept gobbling and the snake slipped out across a green patch. The grass was about 2 feet tall and you could see it swaying as the snake went through it. I ended up mistaking a bearded hen for the gobbler that afternoon. To add insult to injury, another hunter popped out from behind me and wanted to know what all the commotion was. He'd been there the whole time (dangers of public land). It was a nerve racking walk back to the truck, but when all was said and done, the turkey was delicious.

In deer season they never would have made it in close. Turkey season the stand 10 yards from you, head bobbing and foot stomping.
Yea! Last spring we had a spike walk to within a step of our feet then turn and run directly toward the turkey we were working! Lol! Amanda was already freaked out because we had a coon dang near walk over her legs and I wouldn't let her move! Me and 3toe called up a doe last spring. I thought she was gonna dance with him before he could get out of her way.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

You have a gobbler in front of you and he needs to come about 10 yards. All the sudden you have 3 jakes run right by you strait to him and commence to whooping his arse, running him outta the country.
This is Aldeer! The place people come to vent their frustrations and completely change their stance a few minutes later...

You have one on a string and then you notice the snake at your feet. Not cool at all, trust me. Whats even worse is when you lose sight of the snake.
Success is uncommon, therefore is not enjoyed by the common man.

You have hunted an old gobbler for 4 hours and are set up on a field in his roosting area. He isn't talking, you are blind calling hoping to catch him going to bed. Just before dark, he sneaks up within 5-10 ft behind your tree. You hear a twig snap. About that time he lets out a booming gobble. Scares the chit out you, you holler "holy chit! WTF!" and then turn to see him gaining altitude up through the pine limbs. You throw a XXX full choke full of 3.5" #6's in his direction on a prayer and frustration, then throw your gun, your vest, and whatever is within arms reach, cuss, then swear off turkey hunting.

Your hunting a hot bird that's wearing it out. Birds slowly getting closer and closer. Then you hear someone on the rd slam a car door and precede to blow crow calls and owl calls until the bird shuts up a leaves. I remember that episode.

A frickin deer busts you while working a bird and won't go away A buddy and I called in a longbeard about 10 years ago. He was coming to us on a string and all of a sudden I hear this crashing and this doe runs up about 5 yards and locks eyes with him. The turkey was still coming and he could see it between the does legs. She starts blowing and the turkey turns to leave and I seen his thumb hit the safety. I whispered "DONT DO IT" and he pulled the trigger. Killed that damn doe stone dead and didn't cut a feather on the turkey. I told him it was his problem and I went to my truck and left.
